I thought this has been posted here but maybe not.

From their Facebook page, January 31st.

Can't wait for this. Prom Night is one of those retro horror classics that still had suspense as part of it's story. Something that sadly lacks today. Love the music (disco & instrumental) but especially the instrumental score music. Very effective. Wish we still got great music scores and great horror films like this today.

I wonder if Jamie Lee Curtis will participate in any extras?

I wouldn't get your hopes up. According to Jamie Lee Curtis: Scream Queen, it is her least favorite of her "scream queen" era films. She was really upset because she hadn't expected it to rip-off Halloween so much (with the minor escaped mental patient subplot). However, I believe she said Virus was the worst film she did, so she must have liked it better than that.

I love Prom Night. But the first time I saw it I fell asleep and couldn't distinguish most of the characters. I attribute that to, most likely, the poor quality.

Since then, though, it has become one of my favorites.

Un-restored sequence from the original 35mm negative of PROM NIGHT with temp sound. Neg was a bit of a mess, but we're working through it. At least that pesky "ProMist" filter on the film is reduced somewhat with the earliest generation element."
Wow, one thing I love about this site is the fact I learn new things all the time.

I could have picked out the Pro-mist look anywhere, but I had no idea it had a name besides "cheesy 80's filming technique". Thanks to your post I looked it up and now I know all about it, LOL.

Learning is fun!
If you have to whip out a microscope to decide if you like a Blu-ray or not, you are missing the point.

Leslie Nielsen in a slasher movie. Surely they can't be serious.
Looking forward to this, I haven't seen it in awhile.

I don't own any Synapse releases, but glad to hear that they seem to be taking their time on getting this right.

In terms of all around quality, they are the best indie label next to Criterion!

Yeah, I definitely think it's the worst of her Scream Queen films, but she alone makes it watchable. Curtis just had a real spark to her that added a lot to those horror films. Glad to see some updates on this. Had forgotten about it for a long time.

I thought it was one of the better ones, because it had that "I Know What You Did Last Summer" element to it. The kids had done some unspeakable wrong and the killer was a revenge killer. That part made it somewhat special.

That's not a special aspect. Nearly every 80s slasher movie plays off revenge for something unspeakable.

Graduation Day
The House On Sorority Row
Terror Train (also starring Jamie Lee Curtis)
Etc etc etc

Yeah . . . Prom Night predates every one of those films. I give it credit for introducing that element, which became a trope. But at the time it was a little more than run-of-the-mill.

The clip they posted from the dance sequence looks amazing, that I just may give their release a viewing, as I never realized how well edited and filmed that sequence was. Maybe the film will grow on me this time around? I was never a huge fan of it from viewing it on vhs years ago with the awful dark muddy picture quality and found it boring then. But it did have it's moments, but didn't work for me then. So I'd love to give it another chance in a proper presentation. And I do love my slasher films to have suspense over merely gore(a nice mix of the two is always welcome). And most slashers at least attempted to add suspense during this brief time period before not even trying anymore.
Where's Bella(2014) My short film. Spread the word. :)

Just watched this for the first time and gotta say that I loved it. Very hard to choose between this and Terror Train since they're both very stylish and well-acted outings by Jamie Lee. Either way the blu ray will go great with Halloween, The Fog, and TT. Are there any other prominent JLC scream queen movies or are these the big 4?

Well, of course, Halloween 2. And some might call Death of a Centrefold a horror film, of which Jamie Lee starred in the 80s.

90s and Beyond gave us, H20, Halloween: Resurrection, and Mother's Boys.
