Just finished reading The Disaster Artist, the book written about the making of the film and the friendship between Tommy and Greg. Absolutely fascinating, hilarious and even a little tragic.

So I finally got a copy of the Blu-ray tonight... directly from Greg Sestero He was at the AFI Silver talking about his book, and showed a new documentary inspired by it. Plus they had live readings of Wiseau's original (even more bizarre) script with audience members

But yes, the Blu-ray... got a copy for $15. And I gotta say, the quality looks WAY too good for this movie! Knowing Wiseau, he easily could've blown up the original DVD transfer, called it HD, and been done with it. But nope, this is legit and *crisp* HD. Hell, there are studio catalog titles that don't have this definition (looking at you... Dumb and Dumber).

Plus, the extras on the back of the box initially look like a rehash of the DVD. But for the most part, this isn't the case. The "behind the scenes" footage is actually a compilation of footage not shown on the original DVD release, and the interviews are newly shot (in HD) with Wiseau, Sestero, and the sound guy. However, the trailers and "deleted scenes" (really the alternate "where's my money" scene) are pretty much the original SD extras.

Also, I gotta say... the main menu of the disc makes the film seem far more epic than it really is Now I need to introduce more people to this "messterpiece", and I can't wait for the film adaptation of The Disaster Artist.

Wasn't that a blast? I saw Sestero back in February doing the same screening. One of the best events I've ever been to. On another note, here's how The Room eradicated crime in America.

It sucks that Tommy has kind of faded back into obscurity. I mean I know he has been working on that Neighbors thing for god knows how long but it seems like he is trying too hard to be funny which could be a disaster. The man needs to make another drama or maybe try his hand at an action adventure film.

Are there any screen grabs of this online? I want to see what the transfer and encode are like.

I'd laugh hard if THE ROOM had an amazing film-to-video transfer.
The opinions above are my own and not those of my employers or clients.

Those were funny but that was 3 years ago and they stopped making them sadly.

If you're a hard enough fan, just buy it. I found it hard to swallow with the price difference but considering I knew I was getting mine signed by Sestero, I had to fork out. Surprisingly enough it doesn't look as bad as you'd think and the 5.1 track sounds pretty good, despite just being Dolby Digital. The songs during the porking scenes are especially immersive. Interior cover art as well as a chapter listing page. Worth every penny to me and I'm not exactly rich.

I haven't found any and I don't know how to take proper screen grabs. The Blu-ray looks really nice, though. I was kind of shocked that it looks as it does.
