Spectre was brilliant.

Don't hate me cause you ain't me.
But I'm a hostage to that face of yours.

Spectre is the best Daniel Craig entry to the series IMO

Haven't felt genuinely thrilled by a Bond movie since LICENCE TO KILL, and except for parts of QUANTUM have been offended by pretty much everything 007 oriented this century has to offer. The current films may have a veneer of realism, but the way things play out seems just as unlikely as the worst (does that mean ALL?) of the Moore era. Craig doesn't give off the "Bond's gay uncle" vibe that I get from Moore, but nothing about him suggests Bond either, either in appearance or demeanor, except occasional physical bits.
I was starting to agree with most of what you were saying here until you crapped on Roger Moore.

Thunderball
On Her Majesety's Secret Service
The Living Daylights
Licnese to Kill
Casino Royale

On any given day, one of those five would be my #1, very hard to decide. Spectre is great though, easily the second best of the Craig era. Not sure why Skyfall won all the acclaim, awards and hit $1B but not Spectre, it's also great but not quite as great.
Regimes may fall and fail, but I do not.

One minute you're giving Yvonne some romance novel version of how we met, and now you're spouting f**king Hegel on the deck. -Noah Solloway

Indeed.

I don't know why I like it so much, because I can't stand most of Moore's more flamboyant outings, and this one turns in up to 11. But I do love it. Killer theme song, and also I do enjoy horse betting, so even though it is included incredibly awkwardly, it's still there. In particular, I would love to watch a movie about someone at Walken's party who has nothing to do with microchips or spies, just a rich person who bets on horses and goes to upper class parties.
