Default Free 3D ON PS3 In 2010

Man! Sony had some free downloadable stuff on the PS3 when 3D first kicked off. Ghosting was bad on the first 3D set I purchased (Samsung PDP) so I downloaded a few but only kept 1 (Finding Champlain). I really wish I would have kept all of them now. Finding Champlain has good 3D with depth and some pop-outs. It's a well done short documentary about Champlain from the eyes of a modern painter who has been asked to do a portrait of the explorer for a museum opening. The painter meets the spirit of Champlain and he shows and tells her of his adventures with the English, North American Indians and the settlement in Canada that proved to be such a hardship. Just the kind of 3D documentary that I like. The other freebies were very abstract and artsy and all had nice 3D if I remember correctly. It would be nice to be able to see those again. I'll bet some folks downloaded them on their PS3. Anybody here have them?

Ah, yes. I remember those. I pretty much downloaded all of them too, but deleted every single one of them.

I'll beat you up for deleting them and then you beat me up "real good." I'm talking eyes closed shut, couple of teeth missing (lol).

Look through your PSN download history and you might be able to download them again if they were free purchases.

I feel the same way about all the free games that came out month after month on Plus.

I only signed up about a year ago, so I missed out on alot of free stuff..oh well.

I had a PS3 at the time, but I didn't jump in till I got a PS4 and Vita.

I picked up Air Conflicts: Vietnam Ultimate Edition for the PS4 and can confirm that it does have a 3D option, just as it does on the PS3.

So far I wouldn't recommend it - I played about half an hour, the game is glitchy and fiddly to control, the graphics are basic and there's no pop to the 3D, which is way too subtle for my liking. I didn't see anything to adjust it either, it's just on/off.

I find platforming games annoying but played a bit of Trine in 3D recently, it's gorgeous - I have the trilogy on PS4, from what I've seen they all look like proper 3D eye candy.

I really enjoyed Trine and Trine 2 in 2D on PS3. Played them in couch co-op with a couple of friends, which made the experience a lot of fun. I've seen videos of the 3D PC versions, so I imagine the PS4 3D looks gorgeous, especially in the sequels.

The Air Conflicts games all have horrible reviews. The Move motion controls are supposed to be well done, however, according to iWaggle. Thanks for the 3D impressions.

Lack of 3D implementation killed my enthusiasm for upgrading to a PS4. I may get one in the future to play Uncharted 4 though. Did you like Sniper Elite III and/or Zombie Army Trilogy in 3D?

I was considering the PS3 version of Air Conflicts Vietnam because of the Move compatibility, but I went for the "improved" graphics and extra missions on PS4. Given that it eats up 11GB on the HDD, it was probably the wrong choice, I don't see myself playing it much. Glad I didn't pay a lot for it.

I still play PS3 more than PS4, as it happens I only got one to play Uncharted 4, I played a few chapters of that earlier today but am spacing out sessions so as not to burn through the game. I'm sinking the most time into Mad Max at the moment.

As for the shooters, so far I've only played a mission or two but the slo mo bullet cams in Sniper Elite III really do never get old and the 3D is certainly effective enough, I look forward to getting back to that one.

Zombie Army Trilogy has similarly good 3D but I got all the way to the end of the first level without triggering a slo mo shot, playing on my own I got overrun as well so it's best played with friends, I'm almost scared to play it solo.

Yes. It didn't work.

Post your questions in the appropriate thread next time.

Just to stay on topic, this week I have mainly been playing Zen Pinball 2 in 3D, as two new Marvel tables have been added, though I have been hankering to get back to Uncharted 3...

Default 3D Blu Ray Sound vs 2D Blu Ray sound

I was watching Transformers Age of Extinction with the 3D Blu-ray disc I mostly hit my 2D/3D button and watch it in 2D because of the expanded IMAX scenes. But I noticed it wasn't as loud as the other Transformer Blu-rays that I have that aren't 3D. So I leave the the sound on the same level and put the regular Blu-ray version of the movie that I have in and sure enough the sound is a lot louder and clearer. Does anyone know why this is? They both have 7.1 Dolby Atmos on the settings but the 3D blu ray is noticeably quieter I was just curious if anyone knew anything about it?

Just to be clear, you're saying, with the same Transformers: Age of Extinction, the 2D disc is louder than the 3D disc?

May I ask which player are you using to play these discs?

Whoever set up the blu ray 3D disc from the studio, may have set the volume to a lower amount, then mastered the disc that way, since the 3D disc has to go through separate processing and set up. A theory anyway of why the sound might be lower than a 2D disc.

Ooooooooor...in the rare off chance that he's using a PlayStation 3 to watch 3D BDs, the PS3 defaults the soundtrack to Dolby Digital 5.1

That's why I wanted to clarify.

It's probably just an authoring difference. I know Transformers: DotM 3D has some glitch where the brightness levels change about halfway through the movie.

I am using a PS3. So even if you you go to the settings on 3D blu ray and set it to Dolby atmos 7.1 and it's still not as loud then it's the PS3 still?

Okay. I think we found your problem here. It's not the disc. It's your player.

The PlayStation 3 is incapable of outputting Dolby TrueHD with 3D BD. It can only output Dolby Digital 5.1 no matter how hard you try.
