Are there different versions for Supremacy and Ultimatum too?
The Bourne Identity:

US - US version with original "computer text" location/time cues and burned-in subtitles.
UK - UK version with extended farmhouse scene but all location/time cues & burned in subtitles replaced with "optional" player generated ones.

NOTE: the extended farmhouse sequence can be viewed on under deleted scenes on the US release, however it is 480 SD.

The Bourne Supremacy and Ultimatum:

All versions worldwide are the same but US has original "computer text" location/time cues and burned-in subtitles. All other releases replaced with "optional" player generated ones.

BOURNE SUPREMACY

Burned-in subtitles when speaking russian in the EUROPEAN version

I have it AND i'm always annoyed when this happens (burned-in subtitles) since they should not be there - they should always be optional

Well, most of the world doesn't speak Russian. What's the problem with "foreign" languages (to the country of release) being added if that's the way the film was made? I've heard of this, but I don't recall ever seeing an option for just adding such subtitles.

As they were burnt in in the cinema, thats how they should stay. Electronic subtitles have got better since the DVD days but sill look artificial.

Why should they be there - i don't speak English - do i need to have TWO subtitles going on while watching the movie? - one subtitle for my native language should be enough and the dvd did not had this problem

It's okay with city and place names BUT burned-in subtitles when a foreign language apperar ?

No they should be like many other movies where the subtitles are something that only appears when foreign language are spoken and automatically turned on when the movie begins (and can be removed by choice manually in by switching to no subtitles)

ULTIMATUM did not have this problem here in Europe although there were russian and spanish language present

Americans don't use subtitles unless they're hard of hearing, because we understand all the dialog. So the foreign language translations have to be burned in so they appear when all subtitle options are off.

I would guess a lot of studious just don't bother changing this for overseas release.

P.S. Just got this set and THRILLED to see they are no longer flipper discs!

Well that stinks!

I was surprised then not to see a disclaimer on the Amazon listing.

The Bourne set is from the UK, but is region free. It's cheaper to just buy from Amazon UK direct than a third party seller on Amazon.

UK stuff is easy to tell apart because it has their huge ratings on the front cover.

The one sold by Amazon UK. The collection was one of the 1st entries when I did a search for Bourne 4 movie collection Blu-ray. It will say "region free" in the title as well.
