I wanted to see it in theatres, but didn't get around to it. Is it any good?

It's being distributed by Alliance in Canada, so I have no doubt it will drop to $10-15 within a few weeks of release

Also, there are only 2 extras listed?!

Seems unusually sparse for a new movie...

Each trailer I saw for this, it was full widescreen. No black bars. Now the specs say 2.40:1 AR, why do studios do this? seriously?

At home? Maybe you have picture zoomed.

I wanted to see this in the theater but someone said that the US theatrical release was cut to get a PG-13 Rating. So I wonder if the Unrated Blu-Ray has those bits added back in or it's something else.

No, thats not it. I never zoom my tv. I wacthed the trailer on Ghost Rider 2 BD.
idk it just ticks me off that they do that.

I can take a pic of my tv, and show you guys

And by the way, I do work at a video rental store. so we get product early for employees to rent.

James Cameron on the other hand, he put the picture back together for Avatar....and he's putting the extra footage back onto Titanic on the 3DBD, hopefully he does the same for the regular BD version. Oh oh and Narnia 3 did the same thing. There's probably a lot more but not gonna get into it.

No way to really tell. I do hope the Unrated cut is at least close to what the movie was supposed to be though. I'll likely blind buy because it looked like it should be very entertaining to me, PG-13 or not.

IMDb lists the original aspect ratio as 2.35:1. So the trailers must have been altered.

If original is 2.35/2.40 I want that on BD and seems that's what we get Hopefully this will be a sleeper action hit like Taken.

Reformating film trailers (and films) to fit the more narrow confines of consumer displays has been done forever. Before dvd and widescreen displays, it was standard practice. Trailers were never shown in the films OAR at home. Today, it's also not uncommon to use the same trailer for theatrical previews to save time and money. So, I'm not sure what's so surprising here, unless you're just now taking enough interest in cinema to notice these things.

United Kingdom UK version poor PQ

Quick note about the UK EiV version, it's really quite terrible. Some appalling colour banding, particularly in space scenes, caused me to look up reviews and, finding that most suggested the US release is reference quality, I ordered an American copy and the difference between the two is like night and day. Avoid the UK version at all costs.

Anyone know the runtime for this disc? Theatrical is 95min and I want to know how much this unrated cut adds. The only backcover I found is too little to read the details

I saw it & liked it but to be honest, I could have waited til it played on Netflix. I didn't go in with high expectations & didn't come out mad if that helps. Not a day one buy for me but I can see me purchasing at the $10 mark.

that sounds right for me too. I wanted to love it,but itwas just ok. $10 or less for me.
Guy Pearce was fun, but they were really trying to force all those one-liners. Every single line of dialogue he had was a one liner,80%of which werent funny.
Still, I'll pick it up eventually. If nothing else than for Maggie Grace,

Does sony do those rental only discs that they give to red box and netflix? I only ask because I want to rent this from netflix but those rental discs leave out the unrated cuts.

Though the motorcycle chase at the beginning really was terrible. If they didn't have the proper budget for that effect, why not old school it? The only other VFX that didn't look all that good was toward the end, other than that I thought the VFX were good.
Are you really using the word "great" to describe this film? That word gets tossed around too loosely these days!
