Dressed in "uniforms" like these?

If there are pictures of actual gangs with themed outfits like those in the movie I'll gladly take it back.

The Warriors was made in 1979, and the fashions were different, the bell bottom pants, leather vest, large afros, long hair hippies, etc. That's the way real gangs dressed in the late 70s and early 80s.

The gangs that the Warriors fought against were Hollywood but many of the ones at the summit were real gangs.

Google nyc gangs 70s.

Watch 90 Blocks From Tiffany's to see how some NYC gangs dressed in the same year as The Warriors came out.

Same here. Most fans of the movie seem to feel the same way. I've never really heard any comments that actually prefer the director's cut...or at least from those who are familiar with the original theatrical cut. The intro and the comic book sequences just ruin the perfect flow of the film, and are downright annoying.

I wish the theatrical cut would be officially released on Blu-ray, but I won't hold my breath for it to happen anytime soon. I certainly won't part with my old DVD until that day comes!

Custom cover for my HD Theatrical version re-edit. Thought I'd try something different. On that, it's not 100% the theatrical version, for 2 reasons: 1) the DC is re-framed in some sequences, opting for a tighter framing than the 1979 theatrical, and 2) I chose to leave in a couple of the slow zoom-ins rather than use the HD theatrical footage, partly because even though it's HD, it's more compressed and not quite as good looking as the blu and also because I felt in a couple of instances they actually worked better. I did re-edit the subway chase though right before they fight the Baseball furies so that the shots follow the order of the theatrical cut.

I got all excited thinking we were getting the TC finally. UGH. That thing is so good. Such a great film. Looks great on streaming. Wish we'd finally get a BD of the TC.
