So Michael Bay would you say it is completely different from the prior Leprechaun films?

As I said before. if you expect it to be exactly like the other series you'll be disappointed. There are a couple nods to the first. such as the "F**k You, Lucky Charms" line and people taking the leprechauns gold.

I look at it this way. if you go into the movie with the connections to the other series you might enjoy it as a decent to okay Monster movie. But if you expect it to be like the original series you'll be quite annoyed. Mainly as he doesn't talk.
[Show spoiler]And the townies who trap people are the real villains.

Really? God forbid someone dare blend genres. Everything should be straight-forward one thing only. I love horror comedies. I know my cousin does as well. If you don't like or get that sub-genre then so be it. But how boring would it be if you couldn't combine genres? It shouldn't have to be one or the other.

That's because most of them suck with the very very few exceptions. Some have even killed franchise's like Chucky until Curse of Chucky came and revived it.

Not saying this movie is a masterpiece but before this movie the Leprechaun was a joke of a character and not in the slightest bit scary even for children.

Except outside the first Child's Play, Bride of Chucky was the best one. Chucky had become a joke. He wasn't scary anymore. They smartly realized this.

And Drag Me To Hell is one of the best horror movies. A superb breath of fresh air.

I loved the first 3 Chucky movies, liked Bride but Seed just killed the franchise for me until Curse.

Drag Me To Hell, I've never seen and didn't even know it was a comedy. Always thought it was straight up horror.

I saw this. It's a complete piece of crap and lacks any of the charm of the original movies. It would be a terrible movie if they just called it "Monster". But by associating it with the Leprechaun movies, it's even worse. I give it a F+ only because there weren't any boom mikes or reflection of crews in the shots.

Wow. Terrible. I'm fine with it not technically having a single thing to do with the original series. But this was just boring and as by-the-numbers as you can get.

4/10 (D+)

the original was scarier to me because of the persona of the main character, he truly loved to kill people for his gold.
