I thought I read somewhere that Zoverstocks(?) the third party seller on Play was related to Play itself? I guess we will at least have a lot of Play.com stock being sold on this new market place, some of their steels are already being outsourced to HMV.

I guess the only thing to look forward to is a big closing down sale
Totally agree. Lets all just thanks our wonderful UK government #Sarcasm.

On a side note though, best starting spending those superpoints!

I hope there will be a big sale. I will buy all the warner brothers steelbooks I don't have and everything else lol.
no more play.com exclusives
but if amazon uk is the only retailer, their prices will increase because there won't be any competition...

Well, that's a huge shame. It's odd (not to mention illogical) to have a nostelgic connection to an online retailer but Play.com were my first and have always been fantastic. Losing them is a blow.

Now get the Team America steelbook out, quickly!!

Don't blame him - he's a fairly prolific poster but I don't think he holds any power over these things

LOL! I'm not blaming him, I'm praying to him that someone(preferably Amazon or Best Buy) picks up the deal Play had with these exclusives, to, hopefully, distribute them to a wider customer base(ie. internationally).

It didn't flop. It was funded by many companies. Warner paid about $20 million of the budget, which they made back in their territories.

Sad news, only started using play last year because of their many steelbook releases.

Default Play.com 2013 steelbooks

This is not good news for you all but If you want anything like movies or DVDs or anything else well play.com will no longer be doing this as I just read on http://www.betanews.com/ that play.com is closing down for good and becoming a eBay trading company. You can go to http://betanews.com/ and read the bad news about play.com.

Crap..

JUST as I was getting into Steelbook collecting and was hoping to get into some group buys since Play refused to ship to Canada.

I hope that amazon.co.uk fills the void that Play.com left, since they will ship overseas.
Will only buy Steelbooks. Will not buy anything other than Region Free or Region A

Might as well close it, as I don't think there will be any 2013 steelbooks.

Guess I'd better order the MIB Trilogy steelbook before it's price gets any more inflated.

Might aswell get the Transformers steelbook while I'm at it.
Gonna miss Play.com.

I guess HMV won't be too far behind now...
Paramount (Worldwide Releases) = Region Free
Warner Bros = Region Free
Universal = Region Free
20th Century Fox = Region Free (Sometimes)

MIB dropped to £20 for a day, a few weeks ago. Maybe it will again if you're lucky.

I will miss Play.

It cant be long, until HMV goes as well.

That will only leave Amazon, and I cant recall co.uk ever releasing a UK exclusive steelbook

Shame about the news. I wasn't thrilled with their no overseas shipping but I picked up many of their nice steels from 2012. It was nice to see catalog titles like Braveheart and Fight Club get proper steel treatment.
162 different steelbooks/metalpacks
34 digibooks/digipacks
