As Orson Welles once said, "The enemy of art is the absence of limitations," although that's a strange statement coming from Welles who wanted no limitations placed upon him.

Look at the criticism of Prometheus which didn't actually have all that much action.

Also remember that any big film has to do well in international markets. And in Asian markets especially, they seem to want action more than anything.

One can make a case that the most interesting work being done is now on television, which is why so many good actors are flocking there. Imagine a Star Trek series on HBO with the scope, complexity and visual detail of "Game of Thrones". A series like that would make the Trek films seem like a bad Adam Sandler movie.
You said it right, completly agree. I like Abrams Star Trek but would rather see it as a tv show.
Remembering our Soldiers over seas. Hoping they all get to come home soon to be with their family.

It works much better as a show but you can do deeper films, JJ just can't. Compare Wrath of Khan or First Contact to his 2009 film - they are all revenge films yet his film isn't even close to those films. Considering how TNG was back in the day for good storytelling, I would love to see what they could do on a more open platform like an HBO but I don't think that JJ and crew are the ones to do it. We will know soon enough - I am sure a series is on its way just as soon as this film is done.

I really wish they do a TV series, the generation after next or maybe even computer animated series (ala Clone wars).

I'm ready for it to be back on tv again. It's been what ten years since a Star Trek series was on.

It's a very thin line to see that happen though. If this third movie bombs they'll shelve the franchise for a decade. If it's a huge blockbuster they will want to keep it a film franchise for the foreseeable future. The only way I see a show getting done is if this movie does merely okay.
