From time to time you'll change the furnishings in your HT.
So you'll have to run Audyssey again.
My question is, do you have to level your subwoofers to 75dB again, before running Audyssey?

I always do. Then after audyssey is finished I adjust to preference.

But I leveled each subwoofer to 75dB, before running Audyssey the last time I calibrated my system.

So yesterday, I had to move my system, so that new windows could be installed in the room.
Today, before running Audyssey, I checked and my onscreen display indicated, that each one of my subs was still leveled at 75dB.

That just means that the placement of your subs hasn't changed and the dials have not moved. In other words when you checked your settings on screen you have in essence completed the sub adjustment to 75dbs. So same thing.

When you make that adjustment, do you make it with your AVR or the knob on the sub?

I never did really check into this, but with Aud XT32 if you make adjustments with the AVR afterwards it isn't going to make a difference.

From my understanding, Once XT32 has made its initial settings, it knows the right numbers and you changing those isn't really going to change. Something like it will keep the 75db, but XT32 doesn't know you made changes on the sub itself.

I know I love my bass hard hitting, and I mean I love it.

I do set my subs to 75db’s each before running audyessy. After it has ran, and you get that little note saying that audyessy has lowered each sub by 4.5db’s(or something like that, kinda going by memory).

I raise it up by 4.5db’s on the AVR, and I’m not sure that is really changing anything, because of what I read somewhere about it not making a difference.

Well even after that, I use my SPL meter and raise each to 85db’s

I wasn't completely satisfied with yesterdays calibration.
So I moved the center speaker slightly (to close to another speaker) and re-ran Audyssey.

It's amazing how one minor adjustment, improved the sound quality.

BTW - Audyssey change the subwoofer levels to -1.5dB for the front subs and to -4.0dB
for the rear (near field) subs.
I changed the level of the rear subs, in the AVR, to -2.5dB.

If you have multiple subwoofers, you should adjust the level of each subwoofer below 75dB (e.g., 72dB or 73dB). Remember that the combined level of all the subwoofers in the room should be around 75dB and not the level of each one.

Good evening all ,

i installed my anthem mrx300 today and calibrated with ARC. My sub is a DIY LMS-R15 with Behringer ep4000.

AS you can see on the graph i have a 20db drop from 40 to 100

What is the best way to cure that dip???? I do not have a lot of option to move the sub which is currently standing right beside my left front .

Generally speaking, you can easily solve peaks with an equalizer. Unfortunately, a dip is another matter and cannot be eliminated with equalization. You can empty a full glass of water, but you cannot fill a half empty glass if the water is not there.

The only solution is to move the subwoofer or add another subwoofer. A subwoofer riser may help. Temporarily, put the subwoofer on a box and look at the diagram again. If it helps, build a solid riser (up to 2 feet) for your subwoofer.

It would have been nice, if Onkyo had put that little tidbit, into there owners manuals.

Ok, I'll go back and level each one of my four subwoofers to 73dB.
Then I'll rerun the eight position Audyssey calibration with Sub EQ HT.

If I don't move my subwoofers, or mess with the dials on the back, I won't have to level
my subs again, before any future recalibrations?

Doesn't your Onkyo tell you after the calibration that it adjusting the bass level down since you are using two subwoofers? (I know you have four, but the AVR doesn't know that)

That adjustment is what bigdaddy is talking about, except he is telling you to do it in the beginning, where the Onkyo is doing it afterwards.

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, audyssey XT32 has a screen after calibration(and before saving) and it tells me, that it is lowering my subs by 4.5db's because I am using two subs.

Hummm that what i was afraid of i will try to move it a bit forward and see....With the ep4000 when you run it in bridge mode can you end up with phase issues by having the speakers cables inverted??? because you are connecting them to both red binding post i would imagine it would not matter but i am curious to see if that could be one of the problem also

Don't be afraid to experiment. However, when you are doing it, keep the volume low. You don't want to accidentally damage anything.

Ok, I leveled each sub yesterday afternoon to 73dB.
Then ran the full 8 position Audyssey calibration.

Audyssey set the levels of my front subs to 0.0dB and my rear near field subs to -2.0dB,
which I promptly changed in my AVR to -1.0dB.

Everything sounds and and "feels" great!
