Well said. It's sad there aren't enough developers who are big enough 3D enthusiasts that demand it be in the game. It only takes an extra camera and some programming to control the interaxial of the camera, and then the addition of an option to adjust the 3D strength, so the cost wouldn't be great.

Oh well, maybe later into the PS4 lifespan I hope, 3d will return.

If this would happen , the graphics of the game will be a treat to watch then.

Oddiophile, Course your talking about the PS4, as PS3 has had this for 5+ years.

Unfortunate this thread has been pretty dead. Support has definitely dwindled down, but there are some 3D games on PS4 recently that are incredibly strong.

I've been enjoying Zen Pinball, Trine 1 and 2, Sniper Elite 3, Zombie Army Trilogy, Kickbeat and Super Stardust Ultra.

It is actually far more complicated then that unless it is taken into consideration on an engine level which no major engine currently does.

I play Zen Pinball 2 in 3D on my PS3 all the time. I have a whole load of 3D games I haven't played so I'm in no hurry to switch to PS4...

There's a much better selection on PS3. The Motorstorm games are amazing. Killzone looks great, Pupeteer, Datura..so many great 3D games on PS3.

I found the hit to the resolution too much. The ps3 generally only did 720 HD, and that halved for 3D isnt very good. And I had all the games at one point!

and don't even start on the passive/active debate because I can see someone come along and say "and half that if your passive!"

For the record, I have a passive 55inch and I love it, and despite the naysayers, I BELIEVE its full HD so thats all that matters.

I'm using a passive as well, and I am quite happy with it. As far as the resolution hit on PS3, I found it really depends on the games. I can notice it on a game like Black ops 2 and Killzone, but not so much on something like Super Stardust.

I downloaded the Trine 2 demo to check out the 3D and they had the 3D disabled. Fail on their part because I decided not to buy on principle.

That's sucks.
Trine 2 3D is one of the, if not the, best 3D gaming experiences there is available.

Seconded this. It's ridiculously good. Is there a demo for the other Trine game on PS4? The 3D is about the same.

Reading through the comments on this page...touched on something interesting.

3D movies are dazzling on my new 4K/3D (passive) TV, but PS3 games seem to be hit or miss.

Super Stardust looks sweet, but Tekken Tag Tournament 2 looks very jaggie with 3D on.

Ended up turning off native 3D pretty quick, maybe using TV conversion would be worth a try.

Do games typically have to drop the resolution to maintain the frame rate with 3D?

Kind of bummed that 3D games are going to be a mixed bag, going to try Doom 3 BFG next.

Though movies and most games are generally fine, Doom 3 BFG is completely unplayable in 3D on my active 3DTV, the 3D just doesn't work properly at all. It's the ghostiest game I have ever seen, the ghosting only disappears if I dial the 3D down to zero.

The only 3D games I play regularly at the moment are Zen Pinball 2 and Motorstorm 3D Rift (I played the hell out of Motorstorm Apocalypse though, it's amazing how much better it plays in 3D than in 2D)

What's unfortunate is the lack of 3D movie support on the PS4 in the playstation store. What's up with that? If the PS3 can play all of those movies, why not the PS4?

Sounds like a good candidate for the use of a HMD headset. No ghosting possible with discrete-3D unless ghosting is burned-in one or both of the 2D images.

I'm fortunate to have a sizable PS3 collection and was always on the lookout for games that used Move and/or 3D.

Now that I have a real 3D TV it's going to be interesting to see how they hold up.

One that I've thought about getting was the PSN version of Ridge Racer 5 (3D), I have the game on disc but I think the 3D version is separate and $10.

Other than that I'm only missing Thor and TinTin, I believe. Oh yea, Cars 2 as well.

From what I recall Thor is OK but has that Clash of the Titans converted look to it, I played the first few minutes and shelved it.

Tintin looked much better, very reminiscent of the movie, can't remember how it played so I will have to return to that one.

I have played a few hours of Cars 2 though and will definitely get back to it someday, it's not as good a 3D racer as the Motorstorm games but it is a lot of fun.

The only games I've tried so far are Mortal Kombat and Captain America. The 3D on MK was light but Captain's was pretty immersive. I made a list a while ago of the 3D games I already have and need to try, just gotta find it again.

As noted, Doom BFG doesn't seem to work right. I think it's just plain broke sadly...

There's a left/right slider to adjust the 3D but if you close one eye at a time to tune it (like it tells you to) you can't remove the ghosting on one side only.

I guess if you leave the slider in the middle the ghosting is spread evenly but...all I got after playing around with it was a headache.

Where I've seen better results was in older games (PS2/PSP) that were ported to PS3 and had more free cycles in engine to do 3D better.

The other thing you can do with BFG edition is to play the old Doom games using the convert to 3D function your TV.

Due to the simpler geometry, those old games convert nicely.
