Are these MCU movies worth going to IMAX for? Are they actually shot in IMAX or are they just the normal print blown up? Does it look really amazing? I'm wondering if I should go and see it there, but I haven't read anything about it being actually shot on IMAX cameras, so I was wondering if it would be worth the extra money/time to get there.

In my opinion it's not worth going to IMAX to see the MCU movies, simply because they are not filmed with IMAX cameras, and unlike Gravity, the 3D post-conversion is mediocre at best. I get just as much enjoyment seeing these films in 2D at your typical theater.

You do realize the size of the picture is only half of the IMAX experience? IMAX sound is awesome, and well worth the upgrade. For example, I just saw 300: Rise of an Empire in IMAX 3D and it was spectacular to see AND hear. And that wasn't filmed with IMAX cameras. Very VERY few movies are.

Potential huge spoiler. Proceed with caution!

[Show spoiler]

Is this Fury? There is a trailer where it implies that the Winter Soldier kills Fury. There've been rumors, but I haven't started believing them until now.

Fair enough, but the last movie I saw in IMAX was TDKR and after 2.5 hours of that sonic assault on my ears it kinda put me off. I think I'll just stick with a normal 3D showing for the first one and then 2D for any after that.

Part of me thinks it's possibly
[Show spoiler] Fury
, since Black Widow is crying and Maria Hill is standing in the back. Or it could be someone totally different

Agreed.
It's getting more and more obvious that MCU movies are the ultimate big screen TV show. Marvel's focus is clear on the story and characters, there's nothing wrong with that, however, these movies can definitely benefit from a little more effort being put into the tech side of things.
I'd love to see Avengers 2 getting a careful 3D conversion and a true Dolby Atmos mix that actually utilizes what this new tech can offer. If Marvel thinks it's not worth the extra time and money, I wouldn't complain.
Favorite movies: The Dark Knight Trilogy, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Rear Window, Sunset Blvd., Vertigo, Leon, Inception, The Prestige, Memento, Amelie, Marvel's Avengers, Sin City, Inglorious Basterds, Casino Royale (2006), The Lives of Others.
Favorite Directors: Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino, Luc Besson, Alfred Hitchcock.
Favorite Villains: Joker, Moriarty, Loki
Pierce Brosnan=James Bond
Led Zeppelin=Greatest Band Ever

I agree with your first assessment. The movies of im3 and Thor were technically proficient but very comfortable and I remember thinking in both movies all threats were just a tad too readable/telegraphed and felt a little stagnant. The trailer here does reveal a hint of fresh energy

Phase 2 just isn't really doing it for me. IM 3 & Thor 2 were kinda meh.

CA 2 and GotG are my final hope to get my pumped for Avengers 2.

For Phase 2 i knew Cap 2 & GOTG (Even more so after seeing the trailer) were going to be the main films for me.

it could just be a generic Shield agent that died since Winter Soldier seems to be causing a lot of deaths.

You do realize that wasn't the question, right? They wanted to know if IMAX was worth the extra price you pay to see MCU movies in an IMAX theater. I haven't seen 300: Rise of an Empire, and since I hated the first film, I probably won't be viewing this one anytime soon. So I can't comment on that film's presentation. But that's beside the point.

I've seen several 3D presentations at my local IMAX, including Avatar, a few of the MCU films, some of the "3D" Harry Potter films, and Gravity. There may have been some others, but they've slipped my mind at the moment.

But Marvel has consistently exhibited sub-par 3D displays with their films so far. Each MCU film I saw in IMAX 3D, I walked out of the theater with a blistering headache (which did not happen with Gravity, for example). I consistently had to take off my glasses during the MCU movies and rub my eyes to keep them from straining. If IMAX were playing these MCU films in 2D, I would agree with you, go see it in IMAX. But I'd rather spend less money and not have a blistering headache and actually enjoy what I'm experiencing.

And the sound at my local theaters are certainly no slouches.

I was interested, but I think it should have 'The Avengers' as well. That's a part of Cap's story, so I think it's a bummer it won't be included.

Samuel L Jackson is signed for more MCU films after this one.
[Show spoiler]It's being speculated that he fakes his death.

Another fake death in the MCU? Ugh. Oh well, still hyped as hell for this thing. Nothing can change that.

No, there is no way they are going to do that. Not a chance. It will be real but involving some lesser or heretofore unknown person.
