Just received this disc and I have to say that it is awesome. The 192 just blows away the cd and album. I'm not into 5.1 mixes for music but this one is very good.

Excellent interview- thanks for the link.

That part about SH having a hand in subsequent re-mixes does concern me though...

As much as I've loved him as an artist, his decision-making in the past few years leaves a lot to be desired, imo. I wish he'd just let the master of surround do his work.

I agree totally, just hope Squier also stays, I've never been able to accept is '"superiority" complex, but as a musician, an engineer and as a leader of Yes, his influence in the Yes sound is tantamount, and I'm pretty sure he still gets what the King wants, and that has always been a good thing, even in the crysis'

I assume you mean Squire also stays away.

I think of the guitar noodling that was added to the re-mix of America on the Fragile dvd-a when I hear that Howe is involved in these re-mixes. Please no!

Also, some have speculated that SW stopped doing the ELP re-mixes b/c of band meddling. The thought that could happen to this series of Yes re-mixes is abhorrent!

SW's re-mixes can be had on BR/CD or DVD-A/CD. The SACD was not a re-mix; it was a remaster done by Steve Hoffman. No MCH mix, it was said to be the best digital version until SW's re-mixes. Opinions are now mixed which stereo version is better.

I can raise my hand and testify for the Steve Wilson 5.1 version. This disc exemplifies the possibilities of multi-channel mixes. Pure heaven. I listened to it earlier tonight, as a matter of fact.

My advice is to buy it now!

Totally agree that the 5.1 mix is heavenly. But that's just the meat. The whole meal is perfect. No ridiculously priced box-set! Great selections of bonuses. Value-priced. And your choice of format, either BR or dvd-a. All surround releases should follow this template (which, to my knowledge, SW started w/ the KC releases).

And I agree, don't wait too long. Hopefully they made a boatload of these, but if they go OOP, prices will likely skyrocket, given the reference quality of the 5.1 mix, added to the album's iconic stature.

If I could only have 1 album, this is the one I'd choose.
