United Kingdom Dreamscape (Second Sight)

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Dreams...lu-ray/180522/

This was just released in the UK.
Tried asking Second Sight via Facebook but no reply to this question yet:
Does anyone know if this is the US PG-13 cut or the slightly longer International cut?

There are a few people waiting for confirmation on this one.

Doing some very simple detective work (as I am loathe to pay out if it's the censored edition) I went to the BBFC website and pulled the listing for this release, and it reads as so:

"Moderate sex references include sounds of a couple having sex and a reference to 'boners'".

No nudity listed, and the BBFC are thorough. It looks very likely that it's the version with the nudity missing.

It all depends of the HD masters they were given, and as the extras are ported over, then they probably used the same edition without the nudity.

Only the German Turbine edition is guaranteed to have it all, even though the shots are from an SD source.

I know. At the time it was revealed that the US edition was cut, I was weighing up if it was worth paying about £9 on a used UK DVD of it, but held off for other releases. I think importing the German one is the way to go.

Hopefully IanSchultz can clear it up, from his review:

It looks like a copy of the Shout! disc. So it maybe the PG-13 release.

Just watched the UK disc, looks way better than the German Turbine edition (which I also have)

It's worth mentioning that the SD inserts on the German disc are VHS quality and look like shit, you can barely make out Capshaw's funbags if I'm honest.

Appears to be a case of either 480i gedoinkers or no gedoinkers.

Titilation (pardon the pun!) aside, I think I'd rather have the shorter version than a couple of VHS inserts which stick out like a....well, a pair of gedoinkers!

When I was younger my mom 'Treated' me to this when I was very poorly. She felt this was the best film to give someone who was running a very high temperature and had only a couple of days before had Hallucinated through the night.

I'll let you guess how it went when I watched this.

This UK release is the PG13 version as is the US Shout release. The earlier US release from Image is aswell and has an identical running time (which is listed incorrectly on the Rewind site) to the UK disc.
No funbags on any of these which is disappointing given the tantalising near misses that appear a few times

You should have told him about the lack of gedoinkers.

The UK disc seems to be the best available.
After all the kerfuffle about the cuts to 2 scenes , the German disc only adds to one and then the quality is so poor it's almost pointless.

Despite being only 21 seconds longer than the UK and US discs the German disc does add 53 seconds to the Quaid/Capshaw scene in the train but rather than adding nudity it just makes the scene a bit more steamy. The quality means nothing really of interest is on show.
The other censored dream scene where the guy comes home to find his wife having sex with another man has nothing added.

So unless a steelbook is a must there's little point in going for the German edition although it does include the English commentary and a 1983 VHS quality time coded interview with Quaid.

Anyone interested in the German steelbook for £19.99 delivered let me know and you can buy mine.

How much better is the transfer on this compared to the Scream Factory release?

It's a port of the Scream Factory release, so there shouldn't be any difference.
