Still the original packaging, no other versions exist. Chungking Express was one of very few early Criterion blu-rays to get changed to a standard case.

It says on Blu-ray.com that there was a slipcover included for the first pressing. Shouldn't it always be a slipcover present when it's a digipak?

It has a slip case (or slipbox) which the digipak, and booklet slide into. It will always come like this as long as it's a digipak.

I think the old DigiPaks were changed to keepcases because their design resulted in booklets falling out easily. Subsequent designs keep the booklets enclosed.

Thank you, MifuneFan.

I know it's been said before, but I really think they should just stick to keep cases.

Any screenshots of the keep cases? I've always wanted to have it on an ordinary case rather than a digipak (though it really looks nice in the digipak). Mine sustained a couple of cracks on the holder for disc 1 and a small one in the corner

Mine arrived in the digipak format, I don't think there is a keep case version of this from Criterion.

Apparently, both Ikiru and Seven Samurai are currently being remastered at 4K resolution at Tokyo Laboratory in Japan. This article is in Japanese, but a few juicy bits can be gleaned, and there are pictures of the process, too:

Original AV Watch article (in Japanese)

The same article, translated by Google into English

Awesome. Cant wait to get SEVEN SAMURAI in 4K UHD HDR along with APU TRILOGY 4k UHD HDR (this is already remastered in 4K by criterion)

I think thye'll come out faster than BluRays came out imo.

Black & White 35mm take lot less space and HDR will be dealing with only whites blacks and greys.

I don't see Criterion jumping into 4K anytime soon.

Every time a new format has come along, whether it be DVD of Blu-ray, it has taken Criterion a couple of years to jump on the bandwagon. I am quite certain they will do the same this time around (like probably most independent labels will do), to make sure the format will even take off, before they invest in it.
Most wanted blu-ray upgrades: Kafka, The Limey, L'orribile secret del Dr. Hichcock (ITA cut), Kill Baby Kill, The Changeling (1980), Ringu, Ju-on, Man Bites Dog, Creature (The Titan Find), Irrèversible, The Fearless Vampire Killers, The Black Hole, I walked with a Zombie, The Thing From Another World, L'arcano incantatore, Andy Warhol's Frankenstein (in 3D), Andy Warhol's Dracula, The Revenge of Frankenstein, Lust for a Vampire, Bloody Pit of Horror (uncut), Friday the 13th part III (in 3D).
