I really like the theme from the 1990 film, its one of my favorites.

As much as I loved the themes from the 1990 movie, Arnie was a terrible miscast. In the 2012 movie, I really felt Melina's character (and Jessica Biel's acting) was poor. I was most surprised with Colin Farrell's take as Quaid. And for me, Kate Beckinsale played the b!tch to a T.

And yes, was very glad the 2012 version was a shot-for-shot remake. It would have been a disaster as that type of humour/genre/style doesn't gel well with the audiences of today.

Anyone hear about this 4k master? I'm curious if it's different from the disc released last year. Sorry if this was already discussed, I checked back a few pages and didn't find anything.

Unfortunately it's not the director's cut so I have no interest in the 4k version. They really dropped the ball on this title. First they release the first blu-ray with the audio issue. Then they release the "mastered in 4K" version in the theatrical version only - no director's cut.

Sony invented this freakin' format - why can't they include both versions? I bought "The Mist" a few weeks back and it came with both the color and B&W versions in a 2-disc set. The remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" also came with the original film. There's just no excuse for not including the director's cut in the "4K" version.
