Yeah, that was ridiculous. Thankfully, the second version of the case was already on shelves by the time I bought mine, so I was able to spot the differences.

Me wants! I already have a nice BTTF 2 Delorean on my desk, but that one looks even better.

I really hope they release something good for the 30th anniversary next year. Fingers crossed for new extras and improved PQ.

They haven't announced the price yet, but I'm guessing it'll be around $300 due to all the accessories. Most of their 1/6-scaled replicas are between $225 and $250.

When this was still kinda early in my blu ray buying I liked the PQ, but I must admit, after having watched many more over the past couple years, it (Part 2 at least, which I watched a couple days ago) does look weirdly smooth and waxy. I couldnt tell if I was making that up, or it was the tv I was viewing it on or........

I was lucky and got the 25th Anniversary set for $15 off amazon a year or so ago. I took the digital discs out and put my DVDs in their place. It's one of my favorite box sets now!

Hands off the compression button, Music industry!
Hands off the DNR button, Blu-Ray producers!
Films are supposed to have grain!

It is very smooth and waxy. Highly doubt we will see any new transfer from Universal anytime soon.

Is a new release likely to happen within the next year?
There is already a non DNR and EE 'release' of the original BTTF film:

Obviously a new 4K scan of the OCN for release in 2015 would be a very welcome gesture from Universal for the fans.

Default Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Trilogy - Oct. 26th

Watched part 1 tonight and really enjoyed it! Such a great movie that holds up surprisingly well! The image did look a little waxy though and my girlfriend noted that it did look a bit "weird" Unfortunately the EE was also quite noticeable.
As stated, I still enjoyed the film, but the film deserves a non-tampered BD release.

After the film I thought about how cool a fourth film could be. Imagine bringing an ipad to the past.
