Faulconer's music only applies to the Frieza saga till the last episode of the original DBZ. When Funimation re-dubbed the 1st 2 seasons, they featured new music by different people.

They only have one music track, its the Japanese. The old Kai sets had Yamamoto, the re-released Season sets have Kikuchi.

I appologize if this question was already made. I saw a comment that Kai in remastered in HD 16:9 but the screen shots on the sit,e seem to be in 4:3. I was just wondering which it is. Im considering getting the whole Kai set if indeed its 16:9.

It's in HD but it could've looked a lot better.

Is the Kikuchi score better than Yamamoto? I haven't seen all the episodes to DBZ Kai yet so I am not as familar with the original BGM as everyone else might be who watched it since it aired.

Did you watch the original DBZ in Japanese? If so, that's the music you'll be hearing with the replacement score. The bad thing with the replacement score was that the person who did the replacing overused a particular track.

Yep! I'd buy more if they wanted to try and increase quality even more.

How young are you people? I first saw DBZ on WPIX (channel 11 in NY) way before there even was a Cartoon Network on cable. Same thing with the original DB, also on channel 11. By the time there was a Cartoon Network, the show had already been shown in the USA so they were all reruns for me.

By the time the Cell saga aired, I was watching it on Cartoon Network. Cell and Buu were the only parts I saw for the first time on CN, everything before that I saw on WPIX. In the late 1980s and early 1990s I also watched Voltron, Tundercats, Astroboy, Merrie Melodies, Loony Toons, Inspector Gadget, Heathcliff, Garfield, Fat Albert, etc. I miss those days! |

One thing I don't like about Kai is when Piccolo trains Gohan, they jump from Gohan having a tail to Gohan not having a tail. The few seconds when Piccolo pulls his tail out and then Gohan wakes up and notices it missing, were removed. So you're wondering "how come Gohan doesn't notice his tail is missing"

The only issue that I have with the show is in the edited version they made Popo blue. Why make that change? It was unnecessary to do this. Last edited by ShamelessFanGirl; 03-17-2013 at 02:40 PM. |

We finished Season 6 orange brick finally and I've been freshly comparing them between Z and Z Kai. While there are many well re-written lines with condensed fight scenes, I am a little disappointed with some conversations such as when
[Show spoiler] Still can't wait to get Kai though. Now we're enjoying the beginning of Season 7. So wide awake, I'm curious and a little worried how Kai will trim these Gohan in highschool episodes.

I bought the Season Sets last year and though the Kikuchi score is not bad and I don't have a major problem with it, it is just after watching two seasons of the same music playing over and over again it has gotten very repeative and a bit boring. I am thinking of selling my season sets and buying the parts with Kenji Yamamoto's music. Can anyone tell me if at this point it be worth the switch or should I just stick with my Season sets?
*UPDATE* I sold the Dragon Ball Z Kai Season sets at Fye and only got $18 for them which I am disappointed about though I wouldn't have gotten much store credit for them either. They told me that they would give me $22 in store credit so I just took the cash. Now I am planning to go back and buy Dragon Ball Z Kai Parts 5-8 on Amazon and then afterwards picking up the rest of them that have the Yamamoto score.
