For me the importance runs in, (1) most scenes "in the movie", (2) quality of the surround sound, (3) "quality" quality of the sound.

In other words I care most about getting all the scenes I can but "in the movie", IE not as some extras in a separate section on the disk, but in the film & edited in the places they are supposed to be. (2) more care that I get sounds spread out and as they are supposed to be place and mixed well for transitions, (3) might tick of some here, but am buying this not for the songs, but to see the movie and story, so care somewhat of the "quality" the sounds are, but its not my top issue.

oh and btw, don't care one bit about Digital copies or Ultra-Violet, or any other extras aside from the movie.

Thanks for any help.
I realize I'm responding to a stale post, but in case anyone else is curious...

I have the original release which contains both the theatrical cut and the extended cut, which contains extra footage in the movie (about 20 minutes worth). Everything is on a single disc, so I am assuming the later releases are simply the same disc in updated packing, likely just new slipcovers for the Universal 100th Anniversary from 2012.

Does anyone know if the new limited edition, due out May 6, has a new transfer?
It looks to be a retread, because it's listing no lossless audio.

Why would it need a new transfer? Few titles elicited a bigger sigh of relief than seeing this lacked Universal's usual ugly sharpening and DNR.

I think what most of us are looking for is a DTS-HD MA 5.1 track.

Well, I'll give them this much, it was nice of them to flip Belushi and Aykroyd so their names and faces match up. However, I kind of hate the comic book art which is clearly just some Photoshop filters.

Including last summer's wave #1(16 steelbooks), and wave #2, in May(8 steelbooks), you've got 24 US steelbooks.
A lot of US Lionsgate films, that are Universal overseas received this same artwork in both slipcover, and a few in steelbook.

Aldo Raine: Yeah, they made that deal, but they don't give a *frick* about him. They need you.
Hans Landa: You'll be shot for this!
Aldo Raine: Nah, I don't think so. More like chewed out. I've been chewed out before.

I've got the DE steelbook, but it doesn't contain the extended cut so I'll probably pick this up if I can find it for $10-12. Hopefully, Wal-Mart will carry these again.

The Newer Steelbook version of this is on sale right now (2nd week) for $4.99 @ Best Buy. It can be a little hard to come by now as many stores have sold out their stock.

It should be theatrical, because that is the version I have on iTunes. And I redeemed it from the newer steelbook. Too bad I bought it when it was $10 and not $5. Oh well

There is a collector's box coming out in Germany:

Most interesting thing about it is that it contains the Extended edition with English DTS-HDMA audio and regraded extended scenes (which fit better to the theatrical footage).

Throw in the original audio (for the theatrical cut, at least) and I'm there.

Doesn't surprise me about the "regrade" of the extended scenes though, Universal made a right pig's ear of the branching on the first release. Instead of just inserting the additional footage with a few seconds/minutes either side to top and tail it, they used entire sections of the preview print and doubled up a massive amounts of the movie which is why there was no room for lossless audio.

Reel Heroes artwork!
I wonder if other Universal RH releases will receive this type of release?
Looks quite nice.

Far more interesting is that the *German* audio track is remixed and encoded in Dolby Atmos.
