Probably not "just as good" if they aren't using the japanese transfer and same 96kHz audiotrack depending how nitpicky you are but probably good enough for most (will be ordering the JP myself if it ever gets cheaper)

Watched this again tonight and I think I might actually like it enough to pay out the rear-end for the real 2D disc. The JP release is best right?

I'm not up to date with all the worldwide releases, (shocking, I know), but if you need the best 2D PQ, coupled with the best audio, the JP release is definitely the way to go. While there are other versions out there with comparable PQ, (I.E: The French release), I absolutely detest the 5.1 mix that most of the discs come with. The JP release carries across the US 7.1 Neo X optimized audio track and it's such a marked improvement, IMO. Whoever mixed that 5.1 track, need their hands and ears removed.

If you're not bothered by the 5.1 track, going for the French release should save you a few pennies.

Infuriatingly, after all the cash and time spent getting the best 2D release on the market, I now have a 3D TV and can't really see myself watching it in 2D again, unless forced.
Spread it like peanut butter jelly. Do it like I owe you some money.

The JP is best because it has the better audio along with PQ that is on par with the FR release. For the best PQ and still good AQ the FR disc is also a good choice.

if you do end up buying the French release UNDER NO circumstances get the 3D version only get the Superior 2D, ....that is Unless you decide to purchase the awesome French steel-pack in which case you can simply replace the 3D disc for the USA 3D disc...simples.

i have compared French/USA/Dutch/UK 3D discs and the French 3D release is the worst i have seen out of the bunch its really that badly done..even the UK 3D release outshines it

Jap Release or the cheaper French for 2D & USA Release for 3D is the way to go

As already stated, the JP release for best PQ and AQ, FR 2D release for PQ, as Cap said, the audio on the FR release is lacking oomph that the US and JP releases provide.

Hmmm, I'm not an audiophile and use headphones but I do like "oomph." Good to know the FR release is an option though, I'll see what trigger I end up pulling.

If the JP release price drops, grab that.

I couldn't resist and splashed out on the JP SteelBook.

I saw that but I would rather have a sequel. If it has to be TV anything other than Netflix which will never see a BD release like every other show they have. Starz, Showtime or HBO.

Orange is the New Black and House of Cards always get Blurays.
Escape From New York Scream Factory
It improves upon the A/V quality of the previous MGM Blu-ray, preserves the best of the 2003 DVD extras, and adds great new material too. Don’t miss it!

I don't hate those shows but they are ones I don't care about getting or to even watch.

They won't release the Marvel shows which are ones I do care about and I am not going to watch them on Netflix.

Yes, deny yourself something you care about because they are on Netflix.
