"The Little Drummer Boy" is missing sound effects on every version on digital media. The only version that is complete is the vhs. When they were remastering the special, they couldn't find the effects track. Hopefully when Dreamworks starts releasing these titles, they will find the tracks.

I bought this last year. Love it! My wife and I watched Rudolph and wrapped some presents two nights ago.

Actually, there are two versions. The original release was released on 10/12/10 with three cases housed in a slipbox. The second release was released on 11/4/12 with two cases housed in a slim slipbox.

As for Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol, judging by this box set, you guys are better off buying the Collector's Edition Blu-ray/DVD combo pack (cuz odds are the extras aren't on that new set). |

If you're still looking to pick up a copy you can pick it up new on Amazon right now for only $15.99. It's from a third party but is fulfilled through Amazon - so shipping is cheap, or free if you have a Prime membership. For $16 I couldn't pass on these warm, fuzzy, stop motion memories!

So for completeness sake -- there are 3 releases of this set now?
1st -- Slip Box with 3 cases/3discs with 4 features incl SD "Frosty Returns" 2nd -- same box design with same UPC, but smaller box with 2 disc, 2 cases with same 4 features 3rd -- slipbox with 2 cases, 2 discs, but with different design on rear cover and now containing the additional features -- Magoo HD and Drummer Boy HD and Cricket and Frosty Returns in Std Def? I can't make out the UPC, but this set so far has been seen mainly at Costco? Last edited by hariseldon; 02-10-2013 at 09:11 PM. |

I know it isn't around Christmastime anymore, but I have to mention that I really enjoyed getting this box set. My family and I enjoyed sitting down and watching these old classics. Just wish they would have included something other than Frosty Returns. Just..."bleh".
"Now the whole world's gonna know that you died scratching my balls!"
~James Bond (Casino Royale)~ "Oh, I'm not so bad...once you get to know me..." ~Agent Smith (The Matrix Revolutions)~ "Ah, yes...I was wondering what would break first. Your spirit, or your body?" ~Bane (The Dark Knight Rises)~ |

The original release also included a bonus disc.

I can;t find anything about that -- was that a bonus Bluray or DVD disc or are you talking about the set with the CD (was that with
all the original 3 case copies or was that a store exclusive?) I guess my original should have been phrased in the form of a question rather than a statement since I'm trying to figure out the various sets -- my 9.99 groupon purchase was the 3 case original with no CD. I have the original 3 case blu-ray edition and it came with a bonus CD of Christmas music. I bought it through Amazon and there was no mention of the CD being an exclusive. However, the spine of the box does say "Limited Keepsake Edition." Last edited by Alucard64; 02-10-2013 at 09:53 PM. |

So it's been confirmed the re-release includes all the extras from Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol Collector's Edition? Any pics of the menu screens, including the extras from each disc? Also, has anyone found this anywhere other then Costco? They aren't known to have store exclusives are they?

One detail about this Box Set I have not seen here (maybe I missed it!) is that Rudolph has a long-missing scene reinserted in this set not seen, I guess, since the show's early airings with Yukon Cornelius coming across a peppermint mine towards the end. (I was told that this was a nod to York Peppermint Pattie, a sponsor back in the day; no idea if that's true.)
So, for me, it is worth that rare scene alone in terms of owning the set, since CBS still doesn't show the scene to this day. |
