With several in this thread, I've just come to the conclusion that the TNG series sets raise the bar for television series and optical effects. They're not perfect, but the results are really amazing.

They look better than ever before. You will notice things you never have. It's like a fresh look at each film. That said, after the first viewing you realize they are nowhere near as good as they should be. Without going one by one, there is to much DNR used and a softness is apparent. There are points where you see a "vaseline on the film" look. IMO there will certainly be remastered set out at some point. If your a fan I would still grab this set. Tons of extras. Captains summit. I paid $65 and have no regret but that's me.

Think I'm gonna have 2 bite at Amazon's $79.96. It's not a bad price for all 10 films in one set. I'm fighting it waiting for remasters but I can feel my resolve buckling.

It's cheaper to buy the two smaller sets separately.

You are quite correct, and seeing as I have all the films digitally perhaps I'll just keep waiting.

Does the 10 film set contain everything (special features) from the 2 separate sets?

I could be wrong but I think the Captain's Summit from the original crew set is missing.

I just cracked open my Citizen Kane UCE that's been sitting on my shelf for a long while. After listening to his War of the Worlds like I do every Halloween, I finally got inspired to see Orson in this.

Looking through the swag inside, I was surprised to find a replica of a movie program for the movie included inside. It reminded me of the one I got when I first watched Star Trek: The Motion Picture. I also got one for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Bought both of them at the movie theatre like they used to sell them back in the day. Got me thinking, if/when the Director's Edition is released on Blu-ray, I think it'd be a kick to have a replica of the original program included!

I still have both programs. TMP is a little beat up but TWOK is still in okay shape. Here's what the TMP program looks like. http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Moti.../dp/B000P0SBUQ
