Not a chance. Unless you are referring to US rights.
Carlton had spent many years acquiring catalogues of material in order to fill their proposed channels and to market on home video.
Around the time of the merger ITV were already planning to launch new channels and it was not long after the merger that ITV3 and ITV4 launched with the remit of airing ITV's archive material and ITV4 launched by airing every single one hour non Anderson ITC show ( bar The Baron).
Having been beaten in trying to launch their own pay network they joined in with the existing pay tv market and were fully aware that content is king and that owning product was the key.
ITV were already in negotiations with Network for home video releases and that deal started in 2005 and most certainly would have been unlikely to go ahead at the time without ITC product which , at the time, would have been a key list of content for Network to bring to dvd

He recorded commentaries, offered access to his collection of merchandise for the series, and is very knowledgeable about the technical details regarding the remasters and the various home video releases. I think I will trust his word over a random internet forum poster, no offense.
Knowing a bit of background over the US home video release of Space 1999 is a very long way from having any knowledge about ITV as a whole, specially when he is in the US and I am in the UK

Oh what's the matter ? Can't you handle the alternate viewpoint offering up some facts?
Having an acquaintance that was actually involved in getting ITC product released on dvd and working at Carlton ( in the UK) is actually a reliable source of information.

Sorry if accuracy is not your thing but being in the UK does have it's advantages.
But this doesn't really have much to do with Networks new restoration of Year 2 so I'll refrain from adding any more factual info and let you get back to your hearsay as it seems to keep you happy.
What is certain is that there is no US release in sight at the moment and this UK set will be Region B locked

Just bring the new BD of Year 2 to the U.S. for sale. I sure as heck don't want to buy a hacked BD player or hack one of mine just to see this new set.

Speaking of Space: 1999 being aired in bad condition - One time I was watching "The Last Sunset" and actually audio recording it when it suddenly changed to a scene from "Space Brain" for the next few minutes and then back to the original episode a few minutes later.

A channel in NY city )(11 or 13) aired Space:1999 in the early AM. Not only were the copies aired completely green tinted but they were often heavily edited. I clocked in one episode at 30 minutes one time.

Anyone have any idea why Season 1 was released region free by Network but not season 2? I have a region free player now but am still curious.

It makes you wonder why people even watch TV anymore...

Reminds me of how back in the day a 1 hr show actually gave you 54 minutes of ACTUAL SHOW.

Yeah, I think a prime-time network hour-long program now only lasts somewhere around 43-45 minutes. And some daytime programming only has about 30-32 minutes of actual show for every hour of air-time.
