Made even simpler when it comes to the list I've decided to actually purchase.

Is anyone interested in these two packs that Disney has recently made or does it make you not buy the movie?? It's steering me away from buying them. I was interested in the rescuers but not in a two pack. Same thing with Lilo and Stitch that is do out soon. I am more interested in completing my collection with classics but these two packs to me aren't a great idea.

Well if gaining an extra movie is a massive deal, then steer clear. You can wait until they're on sale or drop in price and pick them up.

By the way, The Rescuers 2-pack, both movies are in the 'canon.'

You can easily import from Europe for the single version movies if having another movie is such a massive deal.

it's not a big deal! why do people get so hung up about it? wait until the price is $20 (as it has been for many Disney blus after a time), and then it's like you're getting one movie for free.

you *don't* have to watch the sequel that comes with it. there isn't a security feature that forces you to sit through mulan 2 before mulan can come on. you can ignore the sequel entirely if you want.

just print up some new artwork. or draw a big "X" in permanent marker over the sequel's name if it's that incriminating. I really can't understand why this is so impossible to ignore for some people.

/rant. sorry, it's not directed at you OP.

@xmjonny: Massive deal? Who uses such terrible phrases like that. Can't tell whether you mean good deal or deal breaker.

Really only the purist collectors have a problem with it. I myself am one. But that was only when I was interested in just getting select titles from the collection. I'm trying to go for them all now, so I don't care anymore. I don't mind when only the main is advertised on the case like Hunchback, but it is definitely displeasing to the eyes having one like Mulan/Mulan 2. They are inconsistent and weird with how they decide which ones get either treatment.

Although I am most pleased with the number of Disney animated features that have been released lately, I am NOT a fan of the bundling of theatrical releases with their far inferior direct-to-video sequels. I am even less pleased to see their titles combined on the existing Blu-ray covers. I would love to find custom covers for the following, such that they display ONLY the theatrical movie, with NO mention of the direct-to-video filler that also happens to reside on the disc. Specifically:

Brother Bear
Pocahontas
Mulan
The Fox and the Hound
Atlantis
The Emperor's New Groove
Lilo and Stitch

I do not include the dual film releases of the two Fantasias or the Rescuers since all these films were theatrical releases. Also, by looking at the cover for Hunchback (especially the spine), there is no indication that a direct-to-video sequel is included (all to the better!).

What do folks think, and any help out there? Thanks!!

The Lilo and Stitch cover is no different than Hunchback of Notre Dame. Both only say "2 Movie Collection" on both front and spine.

After lookig at the list, realized that my days of collecting the animated Disney movies is coming to an end. Literally after this August, the only movies left to come out are:

The Little Mermaid (October 1st, 2013)
The Jungle Book (Spring 2014)
Aladdin (which already had a european release)
Tarzan (which already had a european release)
Hercules
The Black Cauldron
101 Dalmatians

plus
Saludos Amigos
The Three Caballeros
Make Mine Music
Fun and Fancy Free
Melody Time
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad

Just looking at the list, if Disney were to release Saludos and the rest of those movies on blu-ray, I feel they'll release them all at the same time (Saludos/Caballeros, MakeMineMusic/Melody, Fun and Fancy Free, Adventures).

Given how quickly Disney has gone through their catalog, I'm not certain if they'll continue their Diamond edition line into 2015; there is barely any of the original canon movies remaining, Disney won't want to spread their movies out too much, nor would they want to release a diamond edition with no movies surrounding it (to clarify, they won't want anything competing with a Diamond title, but they certainly don't want it to be the only movie to come out within a three month period.

Last edited by KG204; Today at 05:14 PM. Reason: Forgot Aladdin has been released in Europe
