Pardon my ignorance, but would someone mind posting or PMing me a picture of what the case, artwork, and disc look like. I am very new to criterion collection movies, but the case and artwork don't look that great to me. It's a clear almost rental looking case and the print on the artwork is hard to read. I bought this on Ebay (although from a reputable seller), so I want to double check and make sure I didn't get a fake copy with printed artwork and an aftermarket case.

Mine looks very similar to this one: https://www.google.com/search?q=the+...ml%3B600%3B450 that someone else posted online.

Thanks so much. That solves it for me. I believe mine is authentic. I guess I just expected a better case. My benjamin button has a great looking case, but then again, this is only my second criterion collection film, so as I said, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to them.

Benjamin Button comes in a standard blue case, which is great, but I love the thicker clear Criterion cases. They feel sturdy, for lack of a better term, and look classy. Wait until you see the picture quality of the film itself though. Beautiful.

Yes, Criterion universally uses Scanavo plastic cases for their movies that aren't digipaks. It allows for slightly larger artwork, as it doesn't have the "banner" across the front with the Blu-ray logo on it.

Benjamin Button is also a "one-off," Paramount was done producing the supplements for the disc when Criterion asked if they could include in their library. Paramount said yes but since the disc was pretty much done... there was not anything of significance for Criterion to do. Paramount also handled distribution of this Criterion title themselves which is why it has the standard case. Its also one of the few Criterion titles to offer multiple language & subtitle options because of this. Warner now handle distribution of this title again with no changes to artwork because it is "technically" a Criterion title.

What exactly were you expecting? a paper thin Viva Eco case that most North America releases come in these days? This clear 14MM case and beautiful artwork are about as good as it gets for Blu-ray releases. Criterion releases are top-notch!

There was problems with the artwork on this release. On mine the title and the front of the artwork are so dark it almost can't be seen. When this first came out a few of us mentioned it. Seems like it's not every copy though. I believe some people even had success with getting a replacement but criterion ignored my email.

I wouldn't call the artwork beautiful. Plus, a clear plastic case that dwarfs the barely legible artwork on the spine looks rather ugly on my shelf. That's just my opinion of course. To each his own. The film itself is gorgeous though and expertly remastered, which is what I really bought it for anyway, so I'm not disappointed overall in the least.
