Glad this thread is going so well. I looked for something similar and couldn't find anything. I'm surprised by some of the movies people haven't seen before though. A few that jump out are Pulp Fiction and The Matrix. I guess there are probably some big movies others consider classics that I haven't seen yet as well though.
Keep em coming! |

Is Snow White and the Huntsmen really any good? I bought it black friday for $7.99 and have until tomorrow to return it and wanted to know if I should just watch it? I bought it mainly because it was so cheap.
That boy is about to seek revenge over the town that murdered him. He knows this, he says, because he himself is the heir apparent to that throne of terror so long held by the likes of Voorhees, Myers and Krueger. This man's name is Leslie Vernon.

Worth it for Charlize Theron and the SFX, but otherwise it was a bore and I barely made it through it.

I'll be 37 next month and I've never watched it. lol I think I've seen a few scenes and it never grabbed my attention. Like I said, stuff that is classic to one is not to another... I was probably 25 before I saw Scarface, and that was a blind buy DVD. lol

Taken 2 was enjoyable if you like Neeson playing the Brian Mills character, I do, soci enjoyed it, but over all it was missing some key ingredient that made the first one awesome, but its good as a continuation of the story.
Now Source Code is special. The acting is great, best I've seen out of Gyllenhaal, but what makes it is how the story effortlessly turns suspenseful action into questions about reality/space/time/perception/existence. It the kind of film you watch and immediately start wanting to watch it with like minded people to discuss. Oh and Michelle Mognahan is ABSOLUTELY DREAMY.

Set aside 2 times to watch Inception in a weeks time. Try not to pause/rewind/discuss with anyone on first viewing. Just enjoy, then untwist your mind out of the pretzel it knotted up like, and enjoy again.

Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame - N/A
Five Element Ninjas - N/A Ray Harryhausen Double Feature - 5/10 The N/A's are because I'm having some odd problem where I cannot play the sound on the discs even though all my other discs (either DVD/Blu-ray play perfectly). The Double Feature is nice because it's actually 3 movies from the 30's that are watchable in either B&W or new versions that Ray has colorized. The picture could be better but it's not bad for movies almost 70 years old. Plus it's to be expected with a public domain film. Generally copies are not great but still watchable. |

The Double Life of Veronique - After blind buying and loving the Three Colors trilogy in December, I knew I had to check this one out. It's a bit more difficult to grasp than Blue, White or Red but that just means I'll be revisiting it before those three so as to better understand it. And yes, I've read Criterion's essays on Veronique.
