Oh memories. The Superblu was my first ever blu ray player. Went with it because I wasn't sure which direction to invest in the format war. It is still being used to this day, but it is no longer super nor does it play blu. A while back it lost the ability to play either format of HD, but DVD's continued to play flawlessly, so I gave it to my in laws since they were only looking for a DVD player for their bedroom. |

I am thinking of getting the S590 as a back-up player just in case my S790 dies

Instead of wasting money buying back-up players, just buy one good quality blu-ray player, that's going to last a long time. You may pay a little more, but it'll be worth it in a long run. At least you don't have to worry about the blu-ray player breaking down, or stop working altogether anytime soon... A person will be spending 3 times the amount of money buying replacements, than buying one halfway decent player. Panasonic, Samsung, and Sony are deliberately building their blu-ray players, using low quality materials, to keep the consumers to repeatedly buy them. Have you checked out the Oppo 103? It's been receiving 5 star reviews from all the critics and consumers.

I just got the S570, the first thing I did was put in Avril concert DVD and I have to say the DVD up scaling is very out of this world! Avril's face is clear and detailed, I do not think I have noticed her red eyeshadow on my 1000ES but maybe I am blind or something! I am going to pop in a Blu-ray soon
So far I am loving this player and I think it is much better than the 1000ES Last edited by Love Blu-Ray; 03-01-2013 at 10:39 PM. |

My Sony isoniazid the blink and cannot decide from disc to disc if it wants to read the disc or not. It will be replaced with a 103, though the wife will be pissed when she finds out how much it costs.
I sure am glad I have the PS3 s my backup, but what I would get for it would nearly put me over the top for the Oppo. Also thought about going to Costco and spending $100 bucks on a player, but will leave that in the Oppo account instead. |

sorry to hear your player broke, i have the 1000ES in my bedroom and still plays everything i throw at it. I got it about 3 years ago from Best Buy for $40 on clearance (and the box was open so my boss hooked me up) while i still worked there.
I'd love to own an Oppo but until i get a 3D/4K TV the 1000es will have to get it done
Not on the rug, man...

I bought the oppo 103 a couple weeks ago and is by far the best player i have owned. I had a question about setting it up so i could have 3d on a older avr that isnt 3d ready and called them up and they walked me through it so they have great customer support as well. Def check them out.
