Only 15 minutes in, but I'd say this definitely looks better than ok. It looks quite good. From a 4 pq range down to a 3.5. So split the difference and I'd give it a solid 3.75 and I'm extremely pleased with how this masterpiece looks.

We're watching in the bedroom on a 42" panny plasma, but we don't have surround sound in here, so I can only comment on the pq. Although, I doubt the aq disappoints.

I can't believe I'm even watching this movie on BD.

My Order of SH and Exotica is out for delivery. So excited. Can't wait to hear the amazing score for SH in lossless 5.1.

Mine is still on back-order.

That's ok, should have Double Indemnity in my hands shortly!!! That would make for one wicked case of eany-meany (but that's only because I know I would cheat if I opted for: rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock). As it is when Exotica and The Sweet Hereafter do arrive, I'm gonna have to do the game on those two...but my guess is getting to hear the haunting voice of Leonard Cohen singing Everybody Knows will make Exotica win out in round one.

I watched Exotica last night. The picture quality is good, but it looks rather soft. Maybe the film just looks that way.

Really liked the film itself. The first viewing is a tad confusing since the characters' relationships are not fully explained until the end. You need to be patient and let the film play out.

Hearing "Everybody Knows" reminded me of the movie Pump Up the Volume, which was where I first heard that song.

OK....well it looks like Exotica made it here first. The universe must be sending me a sign. (Besides the one about me being broke with Universal Monsters, Hitchcock Collection and a million other titles that are coming out in the next couple of months!)

I have some good watching ahead of me this evening!

Just received my copy of SH a couple days ago; finally had the chance to watch it today. I was quite pleased with the picture quality; I don't have any complaints.

Just ordered Exotica from Playstop.ca (to US). I'd have liked Sweet Hereafter as well, but I can't afford both at the moment.

I want to mention that the soundtrack cd to Exotica (out of print but still available I think) is very good. As is the soundtrack cd to Sweet Hereafter.

I agree with those who've said Exotica looks a bit muted, but I bet that quality is the intended effect. Close-ups, though, are very sharp. However, it's the 2.0 DTS-HD Master Audio that's miles ahead of the standard definition version. There is terrific sonic detail in the Blu-ray version, easily beating both the DVD and the Exotica audio CD.

Is anyone able to absolutely confirm for me first hand if The Sweet Hereafter is Region A locked? I want to get it for my brother but he's in Region B land!

I just ordered Sweet Hereafter from Playstop after noticing that Amazon.ca is sometimes showing this title as unavailable. Maybe not many copies were made, who knows. In any case I didn't want to risk never having this great Sarah Polley film.

I had completely missed this thread. I didn't know these films were available on blu.

I like Exotica but The Sweet Hereafter is an absolute masterpiece, one of my favorite movies of all time.

Just ordered them from iNet.

Both Exotica and The Sweet Hereafter were terrific blind buys for me. I felt I should have watched these a long time ago; however, had I done so, they wouldn't have been on Blu-ray. I'm glad I was able to see them on Blu and didn't have to settle for DVD or a low quality stream.
