Killer Bob is very freaky. I still can't watch the end of the Season 2 premiere
[Show spoiler](the flashback to the night Laura was killed)

Worst as in best right?

Yeah, Fire Walk With Me surprised me too on a 3rd watch I think - its downright scary once it gets going and really unsettling.

Having some issues with my Mulholland Drive bluray.
The grain in the film seems to pulsate and I notice vertical lines in the grain structure. Is this a defective disc or an issue with compression? I haven't found anything online.
Otherwise the image is amazing.

I believe this question arose before in here.

Is your sharpness setting cranked up?
Try turning it down.

I've watched it a few times now and I find it to be a flawless transfer.

Your screen isn't set up properly

(In fact, in that particular shot, I don't see any compression issues, but your TV is absolutely sharpening up the grain).

That's way too high. Most TV's by default have their sharpness turned up too high. My TV defaults to 25 out of 50 and it needs to be set to 0 to show correct sharpness. Check out the link below and scroll down to the sharpness section. It has patterns to use on the TV which you can put on a USB.

For blu-rays, try Zero setting, so all you're seeing is the sharpness of the actual encode, not what your TV is adding to it. Sharpness is something you can raise slightly (like 25-30, as eiknarf says) when watching SD content.

Best is if you use some kind of calibration utility to adjust your settings, but this is a good start.

Excellent! Thanks for the link! I'll do some adjustments and see how that effects the image quality.

Also check the settings of your bluray player, Sony and Samsung have hard to find picture settings like brightness/contrast/sharpness that may mess with your image as well.

Greetings,

This release got a 5/5 for video from the review here on Blu-ray.com. I was wondering if anyone else noticed an occasional flicker that occurs as a pillar along the far left side of the screen.

I first noticed it during the car crash scene as she is emerging from the wreck.

Anyone else notice this?

Thanks.

There's nothing wrong with your copy. If its there, its not only inherent to the source, but that part of the screen wasn't meant to be seen originally when it was shot 1:33 for television.

I know the answer is in this thread somewhere, but I believe that if we see such flickering during the crash scene, that means our sharpness or brightness is turned up too high.

Try lowering the sharpness and rewatching the scene

Ok ill try that, yea it occurs at seemingly random through the entire film. And it is very noticeable, it shows up a lot at the edges and as lines through the entire picture that are lighter than the rest of the image.

That's the best I can describe it.

Here's a post with a picture:

http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.ph...postcount=2120

I'm pretty sure it was determined that this is caused by a television's settings. And that some people took screenshots off of the blu-ray and proved that this is not baked in on the master.
