That would be the only reason I would buy The Sword in the Stone on Blu-ray. As big of a Disney video collector as I am (over 300 VHS, over 50 DVDs, and 29 Blu-ray releases), I do not have the money to buy every last Disney Animation Canon on Blu-ray. As it stands, I have 20 of the 53 animated films in the official canon, and I plan on getting about 10 more.
Blu-ray owner since 2010.

Ugh, I bought this without reading the reviews or knowing about the image quality. I thought mine was defective. This whole thing makes me sad. It's such disrespect to the movie. And the fact that they didn't care enough to catch it (seriously, even watching it for a minute should have clued them in that something was wrong), plus knowing that they didn't do anything about it afterward is such a let-down. I've replaced the Blu-Ray with the 45th Anniversary Edition DVD, which looks so much better than this botched rush job they did.

That's assuming it was a mistake in the first place. I think it was a deliberate action attempting to obscure the film's rough look due to its grain structure and Xerox process cell work.
You can't stop progress.
