This is a toughie! The last two receivers that I owned, were Denons, and both have given me excellent performances. I still own the previous Denon receiver, and the reason why I upgraded, was because the newer model have DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD decoders...Pioneers are very good quality, reputable receivers as well. To make your decision, It's all based on your financial budget, and the type of features that you're looking for in a receiver. You can't go wrong with either brand!

Between those two, it's not really apples to apples; the Denon is $300 more.
Audyssey MultiEQ XT is highly regarded, probably more so than MCACC, particularly if you have an odd room with bass issues. The difference in power won't be important at moderate volumes. Really a question of budget, like the man says. The same sale at FS has the Pioneer 1227 for $100 more than the Denon; if you can swing it, that's worth looking at. Class D amps are cool and efficient. The 1227, like my old 9130, seems to be a lower end Elite without the Elite badge. I have the older Pioneer downstairs and a Denon 1712 upstairs, happy with both. |

I am looking more towards the Denon right now. With the Pioneer though it has front height channels, and right now, I don't know how important they are. I don't have a large room now to use it in, but I want to be somewhat future proof. so the 4K up scaling is tempting.

So I am wondering how important 4K Up scaling is right now. You need a 4k to take advantage of it right? So is it even needed right now?
This is the one feature that's making me lean toward the Denon over Pioneer. Are there any other features, specs ect that makes the Denon better then Pioneer?

I would personally go with Pioneer simply because I think they sound awesome, I have always loved Pioneers for their sound and also they use Marvell chips for video upconverting which is top notch. Just my 2 cents.

http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/r...007-sr5007-pre Also, I have a pretty good relationship with Bay Bloor Radio here in Toronto but recently found this shop (Update TV and Stereo) here in Toronto and the owner there is usually always there. I found them because they carry Parasound and he heavily discounted my amp. He just opened a new shop and wants to build a clientele so maybe he can do a better deal than the 949.00 he has got listed on his website. I find when I gain a relationship with a store they heavily discount and find Futureshop will discount very little. Sorry, not putting Futureshop down. http://www.updatetvandstereo.com/Mar...fg_57-0-1.html I have the Marantz SR6007 and got it near the price of the 2313CI. Also, if you want the 2313CI, he has it listed for 899.00 and futureshop will probably price match that as well.
Love 3D technology and am addicted to it.

4K UHDTVs pricing starts at least 25 grand. With $25,000.00, you can buy a car! A person will get more use out of a car, than with a TV! I don't think no TV is worth 25 grand, whether if it's 4K, 8k, 10k, etc. Ain't that much TV viewing in the world. And beside, there is hardly any true 4K content available. 4K technology still have a long way to go. 1080p resolution has just been recently developed, and here is 4K already. Manufactures will try to create anything, to bilk more money out of the consumers.
