The first season that is on bluray I have heard that the quality is just the same as the DVD versions. Nothing up scaled or changed in the quality. Still in full screen format.

Does the firefly bd version have the episodes in the order that Joss Whedon actually intended them to be in. I know the studio release them in the incorrect order when they were first aired as well as in the DVD release of the show.
Are you talking about Highlander or Firefly? If Highlander, I was talking about the first movie, not the series. I'm not upgrading my copies of the series. They've had more than enough of my money.
Do you really have something to say or are you just in love with the sound of your keyboard?

This x100000000000.

If anyone still hasn't seen either, then watch Firefly first. After that - Serenity.

I was talking about the highlander season 1 on bluray not being any different from the DVD version. I should have been clearer on that. I misunderstood which highlander set you were talking.

^^No worries. I have the Immortal Edition of Highlander Immortal Edition and plan to put my UK BD inside with the DVD. Like the packaging a bit more than a slip or something else.

Do you really have something to say or are you just in love with the sound of your keyboard?

The only problem with Firefly is that when I get in the mood, I never can figure out which I should watch first, the TV series or Serenity.
Toshiba 40-inch 1080p TV; Sony BDP-S590, Panasonic DMP-BDT220 (back-up); Samsung HT-D330 (5.1 surround, DVD HT w/ region-free capability); Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 250gb w/ Kinect

This is true joy in life, the being used up for a purpose recognized by yourelf as a mighty one; the being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. - George Bernard Shaw

My OCD would not allow any order but the series followed by semi wrap up movie.

Differing comments have only added to my confusion (not hard to do ). Two Questions:

1) Is the Firefly Serenity "episode" the same as the stand-alone Serenity BD?
2) How can the episodes be in the correct order if Serenity is first? I thought it was a later-made, "wrap up" TV movie?

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated!

1. No.
2. The Serenity episode is the first, double episode which introduces everything. It's just a double episode and not a movie.

Thanks. So if you want everything, you get the Firefly BD and the Serenity BD (which you watch after all the episodes on the Firefly BD), right? Which, I assume, means that the Serenity BD is the series wrap-up "TV movie" I've heard of, yes? Just trying to get all this straight ...

Watch discs 1-3 of Firefly then Serenity. Your mind will be blown. Then repeat.

1) No it is not. The 2 hour episode SERENITY is a pilot episode for the series. The feature film "SERENITY" was a theatrical release film made a few years after the series was canceled. It is not a TV-Wrap Up Movie. It was produced by Universal Pictures and was released into theaters in the fall of 2005... to strong critical reviews, positive viewer reaction, and middling box office.

2) The episodes ARE in correct order. Your confusion could be stemming from the fact that the 2-hour pilot "Serenity" (the first 2 episodes on the DVD/BD) didn't actually AIR as the pilot -- but was shelved by FOX because they felt it was "too slow." Episode 3 "The Train Job" was the first episode aired (september 2002) -- the original 2-hour pilot aired as an "origin" episode in December 2002, right before the series was canceled by FOX. The episodes as presented on BD/DVD are in the correct order -- meaning that Serenity (part 1) and Serenity (part 2) are two hour-long episodes that start the series. When finishing those and the following episodes on the FIREFLY set -- then view the theatrical film "SERENITY."

The Serenity BD movie is a proper theatrical movie, it wasn't made for TV at all. It was made after the series, but you can argue both for and against seeing it first. Some people saw the movie not knowing about the series and then got into that. The concensus (sp?) seems to be that whichever you saw first, you will like best. I recommend watching the series first.
