Yeah, I jumped on this as well.

I was on the fence with it and Welcome to the Punch, and these $9.99 price points pushed me over the edge.

Saw a download of this a couple years back and was really impressed and enjoyed it. It could have been the beginning of a good franchise, but alas it wasw not to be. Was waiting for a really good price point on the blu-ray and my patience has finally paid off.

Well I imagine 9.99 is about as cheap as it gets. Maybe 7.99 eventually but this is down pretty quickly given when this was released/

Excellent blind buy. To anyone on the fence about it, it's worth it.

I bought a region free copy awhile back and was very pleased, I really enjoyed this movie. They promoted the movie at Comic Con a couple years ago. My wife got to meet and get a poster signed by director Michael Bassett and James Purefoy.

Just finished this one, and hope the rumors for a sequel are true. One of the better blind-buys I've done. Outstanding PQ/AQ and I'm very surprised this hasn't made it into more collections than it has. Trust me, once you get past thinking you're watching Van Helsing II, you'll like it.

This was way better story wise then Van Helsing ever could dream of being. Van Helsing was a great feast for the eyes visually, but lacked in the story telling/plot department.

Solomon Kane, while not as visually stunning, had a much more believable storyline and identifiable main character.

Give me a well written story with some special effects over a movie filled with massive special effects and a week story/plot any day off the week.

This movie didn't even remind me of Van Helsing, I felt it had more of a Season of the Witch vibe but actually good!

Best blind buy I've had in a while. Bought it because I loved Silent Hill: Revelation.

Watched this on Netflix tonight after seeing the review up here. I so wanted to like this film, but it just failed in every direction. Purefoy's performance was great, but to me it felt like it was sold short by the bad direction, weak script, and the flow from certain scenes to scenes didn't quite work. So many other things, like his pistols just appearing when they want (at the worst, most useless times), the obvious "twist", etc...made me cringe early on, because a lot of things were beyond predictable. Doesn't help that the CGI and ending were crap as well. This is all my opinion, of course.

I think your points are valid snake and I'm sure my wife would agree. Both of us saw the surprise from the get go, but still enjoyed the movie. I definitely think Purefoy's performance helped with the mediocre script.
Do you really have something to say or are you just in love with the sound of your keyboard?
