Default New 2K scans?

I am hoping Warner treats these films like Warner Archives treat their classics. With new 2K scans but I don't see anything about newer transfers. Sure at the cheaper (under $20) prices they will be from older scans.

Fingers crossed after all the bad noise over the German Shootist release.

The HD stream I saw of Chisum was very nice. BD should be excellent.

I love Chisum but am also anxiously waiting for The Alamo, Sons of Katie Elder, and the Shootist. Chisum might be my favorite Wayne.

The wide release of The Alamo is supposedly getting remastered for release in the near future.

The Alamo? Wow I hadn't heard that. I'd heard it was probably never gonna happen.

This was while ago that I read about the restoration effort, here's the pertinent bit of info. And it's not as definitive as I remembered.

Finally, a bit of disappointing news: Our sources have informed us that MGM may be quietly putting together a new Blu-ray release of John Wayne’s The Alamo. However, this is a restoration meant for Blu-ray only – it’s not being done properly or with an eye toward preserving the film for future generations. So the quality is going to be makeshift at best.

I have the ITunes 1080p version of "Chisum".

Do you think that a Blu-ray will look much better?

I'm getting the feeling WB's going to use the existing masters they created in the mid-2000s. i have the DVD of McQ and it looks very good. I just don't see them creating a new HD master for it.
