You must not have seen the remake of The Fog. That's entering Sharkanado territory.

The remake was fine. Fans just didn't want it. I expect it played better to viewers who hadn't seen the original and had no emotional investment in the franchise. I've seen many terrible contemporary remakes and Elm St. isn't one of them.

I've said it a billion times before and I'll say it again: the Elm Street remake was a great film. Some of the issues people have with it are not without merit, but a lot of the hate just stems from folks' inability to distance it from the original.
Favourite film: Blade Runner --- Favourite director: David Lynch
Favourite album: Movement by New Order --- Favourite novel: It by Stephen King
Currently reading: Celebrity by Thomas Thompson

Craven needs to cook up something great, they film it, then be done with it.
That already happened in 1994. It ended up being the least successful NOES film at the box office, despite being (in my opinion, at least) the best film in the whole franchise. See, the thing is, people are always gonna say "just one more time!" At what point does "one more time" stop, and just leave the poor old guy alone? haha

Anyway, Englund's never coming back. Ever. If he does, I'll eat his greasy hat.

What would have been awesome was that if the alternate ending with Pinhead by Doug Bradley was included.

New line doesn't own the pinhead character so there couldnt have been. Yeah, it would have been awesome if they could have you're right.

Anyone fancy a bit of Dokken?
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain.
Time to die.

Finally watched my collection last week and I must say that I'm very happy with it. For the most part the films look and sound great. Part 1 and 2 are creepy classics. I forgot how fun parts 3-5 are and that they where a continuous trilogy. I also forgot how bad part 6 was, the writing and directing are the pits, I'll never watch it again. Part 7 came back to the roots of parts 1 and 2 and was a better end for Freddy then that carp in part 6.

I LOVE the Original Trilogy (1-3) belong together and Freddy has great moments and great looks (a perfect arc of the character too, plus Nancy arc) I think of 7 as a spooky Epilogue (Freddy's drastically different though) and 4,5, are a fun exploration..

...but 6...Freddys Dead is truly dead. Its so bad It took me two nights to get through it and regretted every moment (except the ear scene and map scene)
but wowwwwwww

Remake=not in the canon.

Yeah, the remake sucked **** for sure. I watched it one time when it came out (rented it). I would never own it and i hope they never make the sequel to it!! As of now, the series has been cancelled. Thank God for that!!!

Remake is one of the worst pieces of garbage ever, it is insulting to be associated with the original franchise! I agree a sequel would be ridiculous. Film 1 will always be my favorite!

The remake gets WAY too much hate, like for real.

I seriously don't get why people hate it? Cuz it's not the original which is a classic?
Because they are two different films. And when you think of all the absolute god-awful trash that gets released (I'm talking ACTUAL bad movies), the remake is undeniably amazing.

IMO, its not even the worst movie in the Elm Street franchise, much less of all time...

I have never compared the remake to the original. My problem with the remake was, I was simply bored to tears while I watched it. I mean, way bored. And I love some cheesy, slow-paced movies, but man, I had a harder time getting through the remake than almost any other movie I've seen.
"Does the Blu-ray version of '.......' look better than it's DVD version?"

I'm so sick of this question. 99% of Blu-rays look better than their DVD counterpart. Period.
