I am wondering if I should buy another Blu-ray player to back-up my current player or retire my old player and use the new one?
I have a Sony BP-1000ES that is still going strong but I thought I might need a faster Blu-ray player with all the features since it is the current technogoly or keep using my old one until it dies and use the new one What Blu-ray players do you recommend if you think I should buy one? I prefer Sony blu-ray players only please Thank you! |

I'm using a Sony BDP-BX59 (which is the Costco version of the S590) and I love it, it's a great player and I'd feel comfortable recommending it to someone else. (Costco currently has this model for $79)
I'll divide your question into two parts .... First part will be related to "I thought I might need a faster Blu-ray player..." and second part will be related to "Blu-ray player with all the features since it is the current technogoly..." I know that waiting for a movie to load for a long time EVERY time you want to watch a movie can be irritating and if you ask me that would be a good enough reason to upgrade. As for the second part, the current technology ... are you going to use it on regular basis or is this something you'll try once and then forget about it??? Because if it's something you're going to try it once then it may not be worth spending the money.

I'd buy a new machine. I bought a new LG-BP620 recently and it is a really stunning player. It's fast loading, amazing amount of features, built in Wi-Fi, 3D enabled and more.
I have several Sony models (including using the PS3) and they've all been reliable. "I wanted Uhura to kick ass. I don't care if I'm kicking or punching something or someone, I just wanted her to sort of be a little more physical."

Then by all means upgrade it ... S590 has a lot of bells and whistles and it's an awesome player!!!

I'm so glad I did! The difference in loading times is enormous and I wish I'd done it sooner.

Wait until March. The new Sony BDP-s5100, BDP-s3100, and BDP-s1100 will come out then. Google them to read up about them.
