This might be my favorite "scary" movie ever! I'm scared much more by movies that make you start turning your head thinking you've seen something from the corner of your eye, or every little noise startles you a bit. The "horror" is all in your own mind and never really shown on the screen... much worse than anything Hollywood could dream up! The Blair Witch Project was another good movie in this vein. Both movies had endings that let me down a bit, but I had trouble going to sleep after watching each of them for the first time.

Try watching The Haunting in the dark, by yourself, late at night and see if it doesn't interest you more. At least get to the scene where
[Show spoiler]the knocking on the walls starts!

I really love this film. I bought it when it came out on DvD. I would sugest renting it for those who never seen it 1st. I have shown this to many folks and I seem to be the only one who liked it. Everyone else said it was boring and not scary.
It does not scare me, but its a classic and I love it so its a buy for me!

This is a fantastic slice of post-Monsters, pre-exploitation horror cinema and it might be the preeminent Old Dark House movie. This is definitely a film where one needs to watch with the lights out and the volume up.

It'll be great to get rid of another WB snapper case.

One of my all-time favorite films. And my list of those not yet on Blu-ray continues to shrink....

The other one, as someone mentioned, is The Innocents. I started watching it alone in the dark, it got too much for me and I had to stop it and turn all the lights back on I still have not finished watching it to this day
