You're right except with Fight Club. Plus Alien 3 wasn't inherently his fault (although I always think a director isn't blameless). Plus you over looks Seven, The Social Network, Zodiac and even his lesser films like his Dragon Tattoo remake, Panic Room and The Game are highly watchable.

Rather enjoyed Alien 3. BButton not his best effort, he doesnt belong in mainstream. But come on Fight Club is not junk.

I am not an expert however Fincher rocks.

I would say 'The Game' is his worst flick however very entertaining. I am fond of Alien 3.

Ben Button is my wife's fav movie!

Over rated director in my opinion would be Ivan Reitman. He is still cashing in on his Ghost Buster fame. I would say Twins was his best direction taking a start like Arnold and truly making him funny.

Since that though, he has done squat.

Atleast Sergei Eisenstein, Satyajit Ray and David Lean are Over-rated proof till now I think. Or has somebody also named them.

agreed, and Se7en is a poor mans Silence of the Lambs.

He's a great video director, but his films are not wonderful.
Nobody ever want's to say Fincher is responsible for Alien 3 but he's still the director of the worst sequel ever.

David Lean would of been mentioned.
Sergei Eisenstien is a bit above most the posters here.
Satyajit Ray is even above me.

I can't question his craftsmanship, but The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo made me lose quite a bit of respect for Fincher as an artist. There's something fundamentally, profoundly bad about that movie, from concept to execution. I have no idea why he bothered with it.

Don't know about bad,but he brought nothing new to the movie.Felt like he was going through the motion there.Maybe he needs a break to get a new perspective or something...

I agree that he's over rated but I do enjoy his films. Se7en, Fight Club, Zodiac and his version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo are all good films in my opinion.
