Unhappy

I think this is the first Criterion Blu-ray I own that I am disappointed with in terms of the quality of the film, not the technical merits.
Perhaps I'll give it another chance, but the acting is pretty poor, and their supposed ages couldn't be more laughable. Steve McQ. looks 40ish. not 17. None of them even remotely do.
The characters are paper thin. The story is weak. The menace is a joke.
Sorry, but I honestly imagined this to be a lot more entertaining.
What do you guys like about it?
When are they gonna release these movies on BD?:Crossroads (W. Hill; Steve Vai),Fun with Dick & Jane (Jim Carrey, Tea L.), Man on the Moon (Jim C.),Diana Krall-LiveattheMontrealJ.F., Alien Autopsy,Dangerous Lives of Alter Boys (Jodie Foster),Housesitter(Steve M., Goldie H.),Bowfinger (S. M.), Shopgirl (S. M.),OutofTowners (S.M.),Spanglish,Odd Couple 2 (Jack L., Walter M.),Wallace and Gromit-The Curse of the Were-Rabbit,

I love it; always have. It's a favorite among fans of '50s sci-fi/horror flicks. And c'mon, Steve doesn't look 40. He was 28 when the film was released in 1958. He's too old for the part, but he's still enjoyable in the role. And the menace isn't a joke; it'll kill you!

While I prefer the 80's remake, the original Blob is still a fun little B-flick.

Exactly. For me it's somewhere between the pure comedy of the original The Little Shop of Horrors and the serious but just campy enough to take the edge off tone of something like the original The Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

It's the kind of thing that's just made for drive-ins or midnight showings or killing an hour or so at home.

The Larry Hagman remake is a lot of fun.
