Would love to see a documentary about RW making-of.

I am not a fan of the 4k restorations of "Mad Max" and "Mad Max 2".
The color timing is not accurate, all three films had a yellowish / brownish tint (like Disney's "The Rocketeer" on Blu-ray).
1 & 2 are too pale, purple and grey looking, the australian sand is almost white, Mad Max 3 is correct.
The DVD of "Mad Max 2" was better (but only the color).

I'm not aware of any 4K restorations?

Eh, people assumed they were 4K because of something they heard about Warners adopting a 4K-by-default outlook a few years ago, when the actuality is that Warners use 4K for their biggest restorations just like any other major studio, but their new transfers for catalogue titles are routinely 2K scans off of IPs.

All I can really hope is that someday there's a re-release of this trilogy with some actual extras for Beyond Thunderdome, with the deleted scenes at the very least. Since I highly doubt they'd do go through the effort to make a separate collector's edition for Thunderdome alone.

There's a pretty damn good "Making Of" documentary for Beyond Thunderdome which got produced at the same time as the film itself (probably for TV broadcast), but it's never been included in any official release. There were two versions produced -- the shorter, 35-minute version can be found on YouTube, but the longer version cannot be:

"Pablo, please take Chet's corpse into the other room, and then fix Mr. Hallenbeck a drink."

Revionist audio and video is for the cheap seats
Physical media Fo lyfe.
The Scott Bros. do no wrong.
Dolby Vision is a company grasping at relevance.
Bring back and refine SXRD displays.

Mad Max 1 UHD Cover

I hope for a corrected remaster with the original colors.
1-2 were brownish and yellowish too, like part 3.
The "old" BD colors are too pale.

UPDATE: german release date: end of September 2016
