Didn't realize there were 2 dvd-a versions. The stereo layer is worth it.

This thread seems like it has died!

Now that I finally splurged and bought the box set of all 6 Discs...

The first self titled album IMO sounds better than I thought it would since the original tapes are gone. I really love Ray Manzarek's organ playing.

It will take me a while to get thru all the discs but I've sampled some of the multi channel tracks on the other discs and so far Id day they are not bad. I think it is a great thing the option for stereo and multi-track are given.

Part of me thinks I still need to break in my ESL's a bit more. I've had them over 6 months but they are still a bit "bright" sometimes.

I have a friend who has been a huge Doors fan so I will let him hear them and see what he thinks. He was really jealous when I was discussing these discs with him.
Stop the Replacing of original Studio Opening / Closing logos! These are becoming endangered and should be kept intact. They are part of film history.

I own all of the Doors' SACDs. Stick with the DCC gold CD for the first album. Things get much murkier after that. I thought Morrison Hotel on SACD had the biggest improvement over prior masterings. The SACDs generally improve on the Audio Fidelity CDs but not the DCCs. The L.A. Woman SACD is on par with the DCC gold, it's hard to tell much of a difference.
