I just ordered this from Amazon.de. Does anyone know of the 3d quality? I also ordered Ratatouille which I know is region B locked. It was cheaper from Amazon Germany than from UK.

It is region free. I just tested it in my Region A PS3 and it played fine.

If you'd like to update the first post, I believe that the following titles are locked to Region A with no English-friendly Region B 3D alternative:

The Adventures Of Sharkboy And Lavagirl
Pina
Gog
Wolf Totem
Young Detective Dee Rise Of The Sea Dragon
The Taking Of Tiger Mountain
White Haired Witch Of Lunar Kingdom
Chronicles Of The Ghostly Tribe
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Sword Of Destiny
Dark Flight
3AM
3AM part 2
The Second Sight
Office
Mermaid
Monster Hunt
Rise Of The Legend
Dragon Blade
Sadako 2
The Child's Eye
Out Of Inferno
Black & White The Dawn Of Justice
The Monkey King 2
The Protector 2
Sector 7
Lost In Wrestling
Mayday 3DNA
Rain The Best Show
Runway Beat (only one sequence is in 3D)
The Flesh And Blood Show (only one sequence is in 3D, as an extra)
Ghost In the Shell Solid State Society
Dragonball Z Resurrection of F
Resident Evil Damnation
Maya the Bee Movie
The Seventh Dwarf
Quackerz
Pengi and Sommi

If this thread isn't going to be maintained (I note post #1 was last updated five years ago) it should be un-stickied - I'd be happy to start up and maintain a new thread of titles that are only available locked to one region only, if anyone would find that useful... I know that there are an awful lot more that are locked to Region B only, including a whole ton of German conversions. I'm also considering a third list of movies that are sold as region locked but are in fact region free...

Please keep asking!

Bill Hunt states:
Quote:
the industry pull-back from Blu-ray 3D isn’t being led by the studios, it’s being led by the manufacturers, who went all-in on home 3D for several years only to receive a pretty strong message from consumers at large that they aren’t interested in 3D so long as it requires wearing glasses.
Too bad first displays weren't passive 3D OLED UHD models initially that can resolve Blu-ray 3D movies in ghost-free High Definition clarity. Don't think consumers would have given a second thought about the lightweight theatrical 3D glasses required for the best 3D quality a display can muster, emanating pop-out satisfaction that glasses-free displays are not yet able to offer.

The Studios, who don't seem to care about what consumers think anymore, need to hear the praise about passive OLED UHD 3D that can now deliver the 3D goods in spades!

The French one I got off eBay a while back was. I even got the 2D UV copy to get unlocked in vudu by using a VPN to create/redeem/link some French UV service to my UV account.

I believe there is also a Mexican release that would surely work in region A

If I remember correctly the French release was bare bones when it came to bonus features. The Mexican one may be more like the original Combo Pack that was originally going to be released here, but I couldn't find it listed on the sanborns.com.mx anymore to check.

Both the Hong Kong and Thailand releases are region-free.

Page 18 of the Seventh Son 3D thread is a good information source for country and region coding.

The Zavvi description for Ratatouiie 3D claims it's region free—the box looks different from the one posted earlier in this thread and on Amazon UK. Hopefully this is a re-release "fixing" the region from being locked. I guess I'll find out once it arrives in a couple weeks if I need to contact them for a return/refund.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I have this version and it is Region B locked: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Ratato...lu-ray/133127/ (Click on Back and Slipback under the image. It is marked Region B.)

This version is the 2015 UK release (with slipcover). It's the same as the 2014 UK release (without slipcover): http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Ratato...lu-ray/104153/ (Click on Back under image. It is marked Region B. Also look at the Region coding confirmations by members.)

The same thing happened to me a year or so ago. But this movie is what turned me to the multi-region-player side. You should consider going this route. It opens a whole new world, literally. I've bought several UK-Region B-3D versions of US movies since then, and most for half the price (at least!) compared to the US releases (if there was a US release at all!).

And of course now that it shipped it is no longer on their web site—fortunately I was able to grab a screenshot before the product was removed. Hope I don't have too much trouble getting my money back. As for a region free player, I really don't want yet another player. I already have the PS3 & a separate UHD player and don't have the room for another. Wish Blu-Ray had followed suit with HD DVD and eliminated the annoying region coding—at least UHD fixed that.

Yep, it's hard to trust the information (regions, number of discs, languages, extras, etc.) on any of these retail sites. Product detail errors, or lack of details in general, can make it a real gamble. I've had to cross my fingers a few times when ordering...and lost a time or two. So kids, just remember- study hard, eat your Wheaties and trust in Blu-ray.com!

I feel your pain. It's hard finding space for everything as it is, without having to buy additional equipment due to technology being actively crippled to restrict consumer choice and enforce licensing conditions that aren't fit for the 21st century.

Now we have the ridiculous situation of region free UHD discs being bundled together with region locked blu rays...

Received today the German version of Seventh Son 3D, I haven't had a chance to try the discs yet but neither the covers (it's reversible, reverse side is the regular cover without the ratings and the UV code emblem) nor the discs have the region coding on it. Will update with more info latter.

Update: both discs 3D and 2D work on region A players.

Received the Ratatouiie from Zavvi and of course it's the same Region B release and not actually Region Free as stated on their page (tried the disc just to be sure).
