as I said a few weeks ago, Season 5 was released too close to BF for the discount. The season aired on TV much later than normal.

It was not under $10. It was 16.99 I believe.

The DVD was under 10

Yeah and it's too bad MAD MEN Season 5 wasn't $16.99; I would've still bought it at that price. Oh well.... I guess we'll have to wait another year. I refuse to pay $30 for Season 5 when I know that it will significantly drop with time.

It's weird how the DVD gets such superior packaging for these releases. The effect on the slipcover of Don looking looking at the reflection is completely lost on the static blu slip (as opposed to the takeaway transparent DVD cover). Same thing for season 4, the boring "man falling into existential hole" cover vs that in lenticular for the DVD or the much better Don in empty office slip. Personally I thought those promo shots would have made much better covers, which is what they eventually ended up going with anyway. Don wandering aimlessly in the crowd in season 2, and Don trying to keep his head above water in the sinking office for season 3.

Do you still think this comes with a Slipcover via Amazon?
Clementine: You're not a stalker, or anything, right?
Joel: I'm not a stalker. YOU'RE the one that talked to me, remember?
Clementine: That is the oldest trick in the stalker book.
Joel: Really? There's a stalker book? Great, I gotta read that one.

Season 5 on sale for $22.99 now at Amazon. I think I may bite even though this will probably go down to less than $10 on Black Friday

I wanted to order this at Amazon for $22.99, but just couldn't decide what else to buy in order to qualify for Free Super Saver Shipping. I hate that $25 requirement. I was even considering buying "Clueless" for the sole purpose of just meeting that requirement, but then I discovered that this $22.99 sale price is Best Buy's sale and Amazon is just price matching. I didn't realize that until now. So, I headed over to Best Buy after work and got my copy. They still have the slipcovers, which is good.

I know I'm going to shoot myself on Black Friday when it goes on sale for $8, but I just couldn't wait. I haven't bought many BDs lately, so I figured I'd treat myself. This is such a great show and even though I thought Season 5 was the weakest season, it's still great to have in my Mad Men collection. I look forward to Season 6, which is due to air very soon.... April 7th, to be exact.

I just started the first episode of season 5 and noticed the same thing. Previous seasons looked stellar, so I'm surprised by how bad this episode looks. There's a ton of compression artifiacts. I hope the rest of the episodes look better.
