Refreshing results in this poll, although full of surprises (for me) with many of my favorites not doing as well in the poll. Still glad to have been part of it and great job Mark!

I am just seeing this for the very first time so obviously I didn't get to vote. I don't agree with any in the top 5.

Not saying any of them are bad, and I enjoy them all.. but i'd be curious to see what the average age of the voter was/is, and that is my guess as to why so many recent shows made the top 50 and dominated the top 10.

Considering there were only 42 participants in the poll, that could be. Many of the shows in the the top 10 are still ongoing so it's hard to tell how they will stand the test of time. I thought for sure Seinfeld and Married...with Children will make the top 5.

Lots of brilliant deserving shows made the cut, but I implore those of you not familiar with it to check out The West Wing if you get the chance, the writing is phenomenal and you don't have to know anything about US politics to enjoy it; I didn't when I started watching it and now I think it's quite possibly the greatest TV show ever made.

On a more light hearted note, where's Magnum, P.I. or Sledge Hammer! ? They're not exactly Shakespeare but they''re brilliantly entertaining

Can't believe LOST was #1. I'd give it a spot in the top 5 if it wasn't for that atrocious last season.

Yeah but sitcoms usually mean laugh track or in front of an audience. Most comedies I like are single camera shows like The Office, Modern Family, Arrested Development, etc.

The term sitcom is not exclusive to shows with a laugh track. Single camera style can be a sitcom.

Yeah but that's what they're generally referred as. So if we just keep it at comedy it won't cause any confusion.

There is no reason why those wouldnt qualify for the competition.
Because Calamari Marionette Ph.D sounded pompous, that's why.

I've been busy lately and I haven't been able to keep up with this list. While for the most part I like the way it turned out, I have to admit I am a little surprised at some of the shows that didn't make the list at all.
