I don't have a receiver and I'm not sure that my TV will show me what the blu-ray player is outputting.

There's no info about this on the disc or the digibook.

...so am I just doomed to never know for sure which version I have?

Can't find any of these numbers on the discs or the digibook.

FWIW, The one I received from Amazon on 7-25-15 has a gold round sticker marked 'Dolby TrueHD Advanced 96k upsampling 4000043883' stuck on the front lower right hand corner of the outer wrapping along with a red square '30th Ann. debut ....4000041940' sticker on the front lower left hand corner.

The disc 'numbers' are on the two 'rings' on its backside, which are slightly different from those in an earlier post [in red]:

outer ring: IPILV80 (516370) 7000042740.2 03E 060001
inner ring: IPILV78 (516371) 7000042740.2 02E 020001

It also came with several fingerprints, a fair amount of dust and two smears that look like they might be from a rag, so guessing the disc was swapped in and re-wrapped/stickered, which was apparently tight enough to 'crush'/double crease the upper corner of the front cover, but Amazon wouldn't replace it even though their packaging could have contributed to, or maybe been, the cause. Rather disappointing since they use to make good on any damage of this type.

Note too that the back cover is a paper printout slapped on with a thick blob of glue to the back of a very nice looking, though much different, picture, printing on the book's hard cover. As is, it needs extra space on the shelf to slide it in without potential damage of the print

Anybody have any experience removing the glue/paper without damaging/staining them?

Sometimes those backslips are attached with temporary adhesives that advertising people call "boogers." No kidding, that's the technical term. Might be that.

Post a pic of yours.

Wish I could, but no functioning camera nor one I'm comfortable borrowing.

The back of the book: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Ri...Blu-ray/27499/

The print attached to it with an opaque goop that looks just like bathtub caulk, which if true, will be hard to remove without some sort of damage to one or both surfaces IME: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Ri...Blu-ray/27499/

Thanks, I have this, but was reluctant to try it, but after receiving a piece of mail today that I normally throw away unopened, the tiny pieces of stickum holding the fake credit card that ChromeJob mentioned appeared to be the same, so tried to peel the paper off to no avail without creasing it, ditto with a putty knife, which surprised me, though a quick hit of concentrated heat from an industrial heat gun to the blobs [turned out there were two, one really large and the other about half size] turned them to goo, letting me easily peal it off/remove the blobs with no worse the wear of either surface, so much ado about nothing as it turned out.

No doubt the paper could have been easily peeled off if the blobs hadn't been so large/thick; I could have mounted quite a few fake credit cards with them.

Anyway, thanks for indulging me on a rather 'nit picking' subject, but when I [or my estate] sells it, I want to be able to say 'used, like new' and mean it as I've bought too many from private vendors that were anything but.

Got my copy yesterday from Amazon, and just opened it. I got the corrected copy disc, as well.

The Replacement disc with Dolby TrueHD 96kHz:
(516370) 7000042740.2 03E, (516371) 7000042740.2 02E

The book itself came with 4 perfect corners across from the binding. The corners nearest the binding had small dings, but I've pretty much come to expect that now. The back slip sheet was attached with two "boogers" that were easy to remove. No damage whatsoever to the back cover of the book.

Now, off to watch the movie!

Yes, it is. I forgot to update the numbers in my post. I got the same ring numbers you did.

My disc has this on it:

outer ring: IPILV80 (516370) 7000042740.2 04E 040001
inner ring: IPILV78 (516371) 7000042740.2 06E 020001

Is this a corrected disc with the 96k audio?

It seems reasonable since they are later numbers than the known good ones:

outer ring: IPILV80 (516370) 7000042740.2 03E 060001
inner ring: IPILV78 (516371) 7000042740.2 02E 020001

It does make me wonder what these numbers represent though [production batch numbers?].

You should also be able to verify this by checking either the display on your receiver, or opening the 'display' settings on your Blu-ray player through the player's remote.

Actually, considering all the effort that went into the 30th Anniversary Blu-ray a few years back, I could see this one being a short wait.

So, this four year old anniversary edition just popped up on the "new pre-orders" list for next week... why?

This is just a wild guess on my part, but they could be reissuing it in a standard case (i.e. no digibook) like they just did with Little Shop of Horrors earlier this month.

It had better be. I've been waiting years to add this to my collection and I haven't bought it because of the digibook packaging.
