Just snagged a BRDVD4 on eBay and I'm excited to try this and get it set up. Hoping its as easy as it sounds.

Does anyone else have a problem with edge lighting on their player. It's not my TV as I don't notice it at all on any of my other devices. If I flip through the resolution settings using the resolution button on the remote and get back to HDMI auto it goes away and I see everything the way it should be.

One of these usually seems to be the issue when folks run into problems.

Did you download the NS-BRDVD4 firmware and not the NS-BRDVD4-CA? Did you download the firmware using a PC rather than Mac? Was your USB drive free of all other files? Did you try updating a second time?

Try running it again. I had to do mine a few times before it finally took. If not that, maybe somebody else will be able to jump in with more input.
Good luck.

Ok, I did a full re-format of the thumb drive.

I then downloaded the firmware directly to the thumb drive.

I loaded it up again. (Odd that this time when I pulled out the thumb drive it did not restart).

I turned it on, entered the code and got my menu.

Set BluRay to region B.

I threw in my one and only Region B disc *District B13 Ultimatum* and it was kicked out.

I threw in the region free B13 (Part one) and it read it.

I took it out and when out in Ultimatum again and this time it read it. PLayed through the previews sound was great.

I am only worried I'kk have trouble with another disc. But I can't test as I only have this one Region B disc.

Unhappy

My Brdvd4 crapped the bed after less than a year. It worked fine but then all of a sudden the disc drive won't open and the power shuts off after 30 seconds or so.

It's super easy to open. I'd undo the screws, remove the lid, blow out the board with compressed air, then check any connectors inside. You may be able to salvage it with little effort.

Alas it was refurbished so no 12 month warranty. I should check to see what if anything guarantee I got from Best Buy though.
