It is warner brothers France + a Jumbo Steelbook and it looks like a G1, so probably G1.

It's a confirmed G2, Jumbo steelbook with only 2 discs.

It does have English subs.

No inside artwork.

It doesn't take a jumbo steelbook to hold 2 discs, so I'm wondering why Scanavo even bothered to use it...

Wasted oppotunity...
Hates:
3D, 3D printed on the front covers of steelbooks, digital copies (UV & iTunes), "retailer exclusive" bonus features.

Also, f*ck you, Disney UK for giving "The Avengers" a stupid name in the UK! Will NEVER use the UK "name".

The embossing looks pretty good, regardless.

Someone on the hidef forums turned this into a slimcase.
Looks pretty sweet:

Why the hell did they have to make it a jumbo for? Makes absolutely no sense.

A little off topic, but could anyone confirm some specs on the French Gremlins 2 blu. They're both released by WB, but the US disc is 1.78:1 and BD-25 (according to blu-ray.com), while the French is apparently 1.85:1 (the original aspect ratio) and uses a BD-50 (according to the site below), which makes me think either the video or the extras are substantially different. The extras seem the same except the main behind-the-scenes featurette on each release is named differently, so they might in fact be different featurettes.

I don't like how Gizmo is on the case twice. Why not just have the gremlin shadow behind him?

EcranLarge and Agora HD seem to confirm the disc is as you say (BD-50, 1.85:1)

Thanks. I was unaware of those sites. Now I'm wondering if the commentary tracks are actually different as well. The US track has Joe Dante, Charlie Haas, Michael Finnell, and Zach Galligan. While the French I've seen listed as having only Dante and Finnell. And if anyone knows the run time of the French featurette, is it longer or shorter than 6 minutes (that's how long the US Making Of is)? That would indicate if it's a different featurette.

I'd like to import the French release if it's indeed better than the US, but if there's an identical UK release in the future I'd rather have that for its English language.

http://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=20290

For what it's worth, the DVD compare listing has been updated and says that the releases are identical. I'm still suspicious about the BD-25/BD-50 discrepancy, but it seems unlikely that the releases would be any different considering it's all by Warner and released within a month of each other.
