Have had this since it came out , always kept it up to date firmware wise and never had any problems.
Until now.... Have recently had "Lawrence of Arabia" and yesterday "Steel Panther:British Invasion" (ok no classic but they are great Have seen other chat about possible laser issues but all other scores of discs work fine, only these 2 very recent ones are affected..so believe it to be authored in some new way that the old firmware can't handle....."Steel Panther" was 1 in a batch of 5 brand new (as in preorders so no old bds in the batch) that were received...the other 4 all worked perfectly, so convinces me its some sort of authoring issue... This model has not had a firmware update since Feb 2011 ....in 21 months!! Have logged it with them but obviously only have a small window to return them....surely there should be standard authoring guidelines so this does not happen ...now left with 2 blus , paid for , that cannot be used...real disappointing.. oh the irony of a sony movie (lawrence) not playing on a sony player... I also have this problem. It only seems to happen with recent Universal Blu rays. I have seen it with Snow White and the Huntsman and 5 Year engagement. I thought it had to do with the fact that I did not have a USB installed but that does not seem to be the case.
Any help? |

The Sony site shows a firmware upgrade on 6/21/12:
http://esupport.sony.com/CA/p/swu-do...&os_group_id=5 I have a BDP-S360, and at one point, I was having problems with certain discs not playing. I eventually discovered that I had the player set to look for a network connection when loading a disc, but I didn't have a network set up. As soon as I switched off that setting, the discs played fine. |

Thanks for the info. I have the latest firmware and the network wifi setup.
I read some others having issues if the Ext USB was full. I did not have an USB installed so I thought that might be my issue but I have since tried with one. I will give it a shot with the network settings turn off. |

No luck. Maybe its days are numbered. I think I will look into buying a Panasonic DMP-BDT500. I need the 7.1 analog outputs
