Love this film and actually wish some of the deleted scenes had been left in. The flashback scene with his best friend, for example.

It was so interesting to watch the deleted scenes with the director's commentary. He actually mentions which scenes he would include in an extended version. I felt it made perfect sense that none of the deleted scenes made it into the theatrical cut.

Watch the special feature "Dailies with Optional Commentary by Writer/Director Stephen Chbosky"...it's really heartfelt what he said about Emma Watson and the tunnel scene.

Actually, I think all of the special features should be watched/listened to. This had the first commentary I ever listened to.

Thanks again for the recommendation! It was really worth it. I'm glad I purchased the US edition instead of the DE edition.

Just finished watching this on my VuDu account.
I liked it, though it was sad.
It also reminded me a lot of my own school days.

If I see it in a store, I'll grab it.

Just saw The Perks of Being a Wallflower for the first time - Wow. This is an extremely powerful & dark film. Going into this, I thought it would a typical teen comedy, but it was definitely much more.

Not a huge HP film fan (though I like the books), so didn't really like those films. However, Emma Watson was great in TPOBAW!

The
[Show spoiler]trauma the main character suffered (as a kid) at the hand of a relative was quite harrowing, and not something I expected to see in a film like this.

Great soundtrack as well, i.e. Cracker, New Order, Dexy's Midnight Runners, David Bowie, etc. Great combination of '70's - '90's music.

I realized when watching the film that it was set years ago, since no one had cell phones, everyone was still listening to music on cassettes & vinyl, and the Internet wasn't around. I myself graduated high school in the late '80's, and I'm thinking the film was set in the early '90's (at least that's when the book was set). Makes sense - CD's were definitely around in the early '90's, but they were a lot more expensive (as were the CD Players) - so a lot of folks were still listening to cassettes & recording on them. Vinyl was kind of on it's way out in the early '90's, though a lot of people still had record players and records.
